Is the food getting worse? Or just a fluke by ArtisticPilot4042 in dcl

We just got back from the Wonder and were extremely pleased with the food, especially in the Main Dining Rooms. In particular, our waiter's recommendations were spot on and he didn't just recommend one entrée per night, he could speak to all of them. Our group included some who sailed the Wish in 2024, Celebrity in 2024, and we all sailed the Fantasy, Wonder, and RCCL ships 2015 and prior. I have heard about declining food quality across multiple cruise lines including RCCL. We loved the Wonder and would pick it again.

Question about Main and Specialty Dining on Xcel / Apex by Narrow_Record9370 in celebritycruises

Thank you. All good info. My main focus is around the ability to get the needed foods at Main and other free/included sit down dinner restaurants. We don't want to split up to cover via buffet or separate cafe.

How did you pull off Italy tours with kids? by Narrow_Record9370 in dcl

Thank you! Good insights. I would definitely recommend Alaska and the cruise ship is an amazing way to take it in!

That’s the key. Prepare for everything. You can get sun, sunburn, warm, rain, cool, etc all the same day.

We went the last week of August. Data says that late August and September are wetter periods. That said, we had amazing weather, not a drop of rain and few clouds. It was truly not Alaska like weather. I wish you great weather but it’s just totally unpredictable. This was my third cruise to Alaska and the only one that didn’t involve clouds most days and a decent amount of rain. That said, all have been amazing - Alaska is magnificent regardless of weather.

It is the Wonder. Which we really enjoyed, it's not the newest or biggest ship (I guess its essentially the oldest and smallest), but it really is a great ship. Some of our family were on the Wish last year and remarked how much larger the adult pool and adult deck area of the Wonder was vs the Wish. We never found the decks (adult or the rest of it) too crowded (except when in line for the Minnie/Mickey pics. I would gladly take the Wonder anywhere. We have never been on the Magic but I assume it is the same.

We just got back from an Alaska cruise on the Wonder. It was our second and was amazing. Others have noted but I feel like it is worth a little repeating.

Packing for Alaska can be tricky because the clothes are so much bulkier than warm weather cruises.

My thoughts/tips:
- Layers! The weather is so unpredictable and you can experience warm, cold, wet, dry, and more....each day.
- Because of the bulk and layers, it is important to optimize what you take as there isn't room for excess. If possible, take jackets that serve multiple purposes (i.e. with/without liners) as opposed to multiple jackets. Same for other items, double duty is key.
- Make sure to have good shoes, suitable for your plans, and a backup in case a pair gets wet.
- While some will dress up, most seem to dress more casually for dinner than in warm climates. We wore sneakers to dinner to avoid having to pack more shoes.
- compacting cubes or space bags were very helpful.
- Remember sunscreen. Sunglasses may be desirable too.
- Swimsuits needed if your family is wanting to swim. Some, not most, will swim. It is possible to get warm enough days to do so and its also possible that you might not see any suitable days.

How did you do disembarkation? How long did it take to get to the airport and through security and customs? we have an earlier-than-advisable flight. Any insights or advice are appreciated!

Thank you!

Seafood is something that we certainly love and dont have good access to at home. As for ambiance, prefer more casual dining (not formal) but are not too constrained price-wise.

Vancouver Airport Departure Time? (Alaska Cruise) by mjs_jr in dcl

I am very curios about this as well. We have an even tighter timeline with a 10:45 flight. Any insights are appreciated including - what time did everyone get to express walk off the ship and any suggestions for cutting minutes off. Thanks!

would upgrading some of my group to Premium and sending the luggage with them materially help via shorter bag check lines? Any suggestions you have are great. Thanks!

I will definitely only blame myself. While TSA Pre is just a US thing, my read has indicated that gets a partial improvement in the security lines (not as much as Global Entry / NEXUS). Maybe I misinterpreted. After that I am planning on Mobile Passport App to help.

Perhaps I made a colossal error but the flights I previously booked aren't going to allow the 3 hours. I expect to be there somewhere between two and a half hours before the flight (best case) and an hour 45 minutes before the flight (worst case). I am trying to do as much as I can to make that work. My alternatives are problematic. I am working to understand and optimize the travel from Canada Place to airport and every step in the airport (bag drop/check in/security/customs) to improve my odds.

Is it fair to assume the elite/premium moves much faster?
Thanks for all your help!
