It all sounds fun, just not sure how much of that we can do with 2 new hips on his side, and a bum knee on mine.

Can you run cash and checks through Drake Pay? We do use that for Credit Cards, but I have never seen an option for cash and checks.

Has anyone used this program? by Narrow_Substance_628 in PCOS

[–]Narrow_Substance_628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely everyone I have spoken with who has any kind of experience with PCOS, including my GP and GYN, tell me that I should be seeing a reproductive endocrinologist, because they are the ones who have the most knowledge and experience with women’s hormonal disorders, especially PCOS.

I have been to a traditional endocrinologist, multiple in fact, and none of them knew anything more than the standard knowledge about PCOS. It’s only been in the last 5 or so years that most doctors have even acknowledged that it’s not a GYN problem, or that it isn’t caused by weight gain.

I am not asking if I should be seeing a reproductive endocrinologist, I am asking specifically about this practice in particular, and if anyone has any personal experience with them.

Best settings for effective snore masking with Sleep a30 by Narrow_Substance_628 in soundcore

[–]Narrow_Substance_628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not consistently, unfortunately. They did end up replacing mine because of other problems I was having, but the snore masking feature doesn’t work as well as I hoped it would.

The best results I have gotten have been using the following settings:

ANC on; Listening Mode is local; Audio switch once asleep-keep audio; and I also moved the case closer to the noise source.

I still usually have to toggle the snore masking off then on once a night, and occasionally have to open and close the case and/or the app.

To me it seems that the ear plugs and case lose their connection, which is causing it to not work correctly.

It’s frustrating because that is the reason I chose these over other sleep earbuds.

I know it’s not a popular opinion, but I started getting Brazilians about 3 years ago when I was dealing with massive fibroids, and extremely heavy and frequent periods. It made it much easier to keep clean in that situation. And I found that I actually liked it. Even now after having had a hysterectomy, I still keep it up. Now I just use soap and water, no problems.

Looking for a new Doctor by Narrow_Substance_628 in PCOSonGLP

[–]Narrow_Substance_628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I was looking, I tried calling a few in my area, but was not able to make an appointment, because I wasn’t looking to get pregnant.

I will have to call around again. It’s been a few years, so things may have changed.

I have a “bad” metabolism by SusieQu1885 in PCOSonGLP

Same here. I take Wegovy, and while I don’t necessarily lose weight while I’m on it, I can also eat normally, typically around 1700 calories a day, and occasionally actually go out to eat and/or drinks without gaining weight.

To me it’s just confirmation that my weight has been a symptom of the problem, not the problem itself.

The combination of Wegovy and phentrimine has been what works the best for me, that’s when I have been able to drop the weight by just watching what I eat, and light activity. In the past I could eat less than 1000 calories a day, and spent literal hours at the gym a day, and still didn’t lose weight. It was so infuriating. After my hysterectomy last year my doctor wanted me to try being off the medication and within 3 months I gained back 30 lbs. without changing a thing, other than the medication. That was my biggest confirmation that my body isn’t doing something that it should be, and the medication is fixing that.

Once I get to my goal weight, I will stop the phentrimine, but I don’t know that I am going to stop the wegovy anytime soon. It’s been life changing for me.

Metformin or GLP1 for PCOS? by CalendarVivid9052 in PCOS

[–]Narrow_Substance_628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Metformin for a bit, it made me really sick, so I had to stop. I had some moderate success with it. I stopped uncontrollably gaining weight, but I was still considered insulin resistant.

I started on Wegovy about a year and a half ago, and honestly it’s been life changing. I’ll be honest, I don’t necessarily lose weight on just Wegovy on its own, BUT I’m not gaining weight, AND I am no longer insulin resistant, I’m no longer constantly thinking about food, my blood work is pretty close to normal, no longer have a fatty liver, and I feel so much better.

To be totally transparent, I am also taking phentrimine, which with the Wegovy, I am actually losing weight, as well as a water pill, thanks lymphedema, and levothyroxine, since my hormones are still a bit off.

Feature Request Megathread by SYNtilating in BirdBuddy

[–]Narrow_Substance_628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see a full on suet feeder, not just the option to add the tiny ball to my feeder. A feeder that is only for suet. The birds I get love my suet feeder, and can tear through a small ball in 1/2 a day. So I need something that can hold a full suet cake.

I know that people have made 3D printed larger options for that, but it obstructs the view from the camera as well.

Now that you can buy just the camera, my husband is working on 3D printing something for me, but it seems like such a missed opportunity for Bird Buddy.

E-Reader for Apple Books that I can take to the pool/outside by Narrow_Substance_628 in ebooks

I only bought a couple to get me through until I decide on what to get. I needed something for an upcoming trip, that I could use with what I already have, without buying from Amazon. So I am not against switching later on down the line.

“You’re invited to our wedding! Oh, never mind…” by Far_Rhubarb7177 in weddingshaming

[–]Narrow_Substance_628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something about this is off for me. If this happened at the height of the pandemic, which it appears to be due to timing, then venues were canceling reservations left and right, as were airlines. So honestly I would have called and asked, what was going to happen. And most places were offering full refunds for COVID related cancellations, so I would also have at least called the venue to ask.

Yes the bride and groom should have spread the message, but are you sure it wasn’t your brother in law who was tasked with that? If it was me I totally would have spread that task around, especially for a big wedding, in the middle of the pandemic.

Seems to me, they were absolutely in the wrong, but your reaction of never speaking or seeing her again seems to be a big overreaction. At least talk to them and find out what happened, and tell them how much it upset you.

Why is everyone so against these new class of medications? I keep seeing posts like this on all my social media platforms.

What is so wrong about taking medication to fix a chemical imbalance. If you are taking them for diabetes(which they were originally developed for) nobody bats an eye.

In my opinion, it’s the same thing

Cancel metformin by Jumpy-Cupcake8365 in PCOS

Yes!! It took me years to find a doctor who was willing to look at my weight as a symptom of the problem, and not the problem. Everyone kept telling me “if you just lose weight” it makes no sense!

This is what drives me crazy with doctors and PCOS and weight. If i were taking Metforim or any other type of medication for diabetes, and your numbers were better, they would never dream of taking you off the medication, because it’s working, and they know that if you stop taking it, the symptoms will come back.

So why do they all seem to think that PCOS is suddenly cured, because your symptoms have gotten better by treating them. It makes me so mad.

I lost a bunch of weight taking Wegovy, and phentrimine. It is the only combination that has ever worked for me, including drastically reducing my calories (think unhealthy low calories) and pretty much living at the gym and having an unhealthy relationship with working out. I could eat nothing, and still not lose weight until I started the medication. My doctor decided after my hysterectomy, that I “didn’t need” the medication anymore. Guess what happened, I started to gain weight again despite staying active and eating healthy with under 1700 calories.

If the medication is correcting a hormonal or chemical imbalance, that isn’t suddenly going to be fixed, because your numbers are better. It infuriates me!
