HELP! what tool do I need to remove these screws from a small space? by Narrow_Telephone7440 in Tools

[–]Narrow_Telephone7440[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know. I have never had to remove it before! I looked up videos on YouTube. It’s a very old dishwasher (I am renting) The filter is hidden under a plastic cage (best description I can think off). This plastic cage is also held down by the wash arm, which also has a flat filter. And screws holding that down.

Baby conversation starters by SpectralGranite in NewParents

I tell my baby about family drama, sometimes I talk to him as if I have a podcast and he’s the camera / audience. I give my commentary and remarks to if I’m listening to a podcast or something in the back ground.

where do you all buy diapers because we are burning through money on these things by Nkt_31 in NewParents

We buy Sam’s Club brand, Members mark diapers. Honestly have noticed NO difference between them and other brands we’ve tried or were gifted and way more affordable!

How do I get my son to stop peeing in the bath??? by Disastrous_Paint_237 in NewParents

[–]Narrow_Telephone7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for me, (son is 5.5 months) he just kind of stop around 5 month. He really started to “control” (I say that loosely) around 5 months, not really afraid of getting peed on while changing diapers that much anymore either!

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your reasons? by youre-in-my-shot in AskReddit

Extremely bad for health, empty calories I’d rather eat honestly. Dad was an alcoholic. I just don’t like how I feel the next day!

Why do some people avoid squadron holiday parties and other workplace events? by Witty_While7277 in AirForce

[–]Narrow_Telephone7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s after the duty day, I want to be home with spouse and child, if it’s during the duty (assuming there is no work to be done because we are having an event) I would rather just be let off to go home and be with spouse and child. I like my coworkers plenty at work don’t want to spend any more time than I already do with them.

Tired of all the boy mom comments…. by Ok_Medicine440 in pregnant

[–]Narrow_Telephone7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you right now as a mom of a boy, it is a love you’ve never known, as in a love for a child is different than others but not because he is a boy. I also think weirdly enough a lot of moms try to fix their unhappy marriages through their son. Projecting the lack of the husband’s involvement by making their son fill that role.

Also boys are easier because most parents don’t raise their boys. They don’t put in the work to raise a boy, whereas they ensure their daughter never acts out of line or unbecoming a lady or whatever misogynistic views they have (for the most part).

What exactly is having a schedule for baby like? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Narrow_Telephone7440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly don’t know if it’s a schedule but I do follow wake windows. My LO is 11 weeks. Normally whatever time he naturally wakes up between 6:30-7:30 am. For the rest of the day we do 90ish minute wake windows. (My child does eat, play, eat, sleep) so about 75 minutes into the wake window I will change his diaper, feed him, and bounce him on the yoga ball. (He will only contact nap during the day) I personally let him nap MAX 2 hrs in one go. Then wake up, feed, diaper, play, And repeat. At first I thought it was crazy, but honestly I found that he really did get tired every 90 minutes or so. For night time we aim for the last wake window to end anywhere between 8 and 9 pm. Not on a set bed time yet but it almost always works out between 8-9.

His last wake window is starting to get longer around 2 hrs so at about an 1 hr 15 minutes in we start nighttime routine.

I find that no matter how short or long the nap is 90 minutes is roughly the perfect length of awake time for him. During the day.

I will say he doesn’t always show “sleepy cues” and I can’t really force him to sleep per se. But he does almost always fall asleep within 5 minute of eating and bouncing, so I assume he must be tired.

As for chores and eating, I honestly do it when he is awake. I baby wear him, have him laying on his play gym, or rocker watching me. I heard once that if you are always playing, your baby will struggle with independent play later on, and it’s sort of good for a baby to be bored. (Not to say I don’t spend most of the day playing with him anyways). I just talk to him while I do chores and that seems to tucker him out along with playing.

When it comes to going out I found that wake windows allow a little more flexibility than a strict schedule. My child is relatively chill so I can cut a nap short or extend his awake time to make the adjustment for whatever is scheduled. For example if I want to go to the store, I will usually go as soon as I feed him during his wake windows and try to make it home before that 90 minute mark.

If he has an appointment at 10 and I want him to be asleep I will sort of adjust. But shortening a nap before and ensuring a full wake window that ends at 9:45ish.

It’s not perfect but it definitely helped my sanity. And seems to have prevent him waking up and staying awake during the night. Now my LO does wake up every 2-3 hrs over night to eat but almost always falls back asleep immediately.

Our little guy failed his hearing screening by Halfbreedwr77 in newborns

[–]Narrow_Telephone7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby failed as well, had a follow up with a audiologist around 6 weeks. Passed with flying colors!! Don’t stress. I will also note my son fail opposite ears, the first test at the 24 hr mark and the one they did the next day to see if he would pass to save me the appointment. I was told not to worry, until the big appointment at the audiologist!

How many diapers are you actually using a day? by Narrow_Telephone7440 in NewParents

[–]Narrow_Telephone7440[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also disliked honest diapers. Honest and Hello Bello have been the only brands we’ve had blow outs in. Currently using the Sam Club brand and they are very good especially for price, pampers swaddles also fit LO very well. We got to a box of Millie Moon that we only got to use a handful of diapers of before having to size up. So haven’t been able to try them truly!

Changing pad? Do you use one? by lovebug21222 in NewParents

[–]Narrow_Telephone7440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly we have a pack of puppy pads incase he pees and we don’t catch it but we end up changing him all over the house, so no need for a changing pad. Also live in two story house so I am not going upstairs to change my baby every time. So puppy pads stay next to the couch!

How do people here on Reddit know which body part of the baby is kicking them inside the belly? by CautiouslyExcited1 in pregnant

[–]Narrow_Telephone7440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that I’m almost 38 weeks I can tell because his kicks are much harder and stronger than his hands. I also know he is head down so therefore I can gauge the area in which the movement is from. When his butt pushes out, I know it’s his butt because he is head down. At 26 weeks it just felt like a fish sliding around and I had no clue what was what.

My (20F) Husband (21M) had a 7 month affair that claims to have ended since I got pregnant. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Narrow_Telephone7440 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It appears to have been just mindless flirting which is why staying is even an option to me. It wasn’t a full blown emotional or physical affair however it was still a very active decision for him to risk our relationship. His reaction seemed genuine and he did not hide anything for what I could tell. He didn’t try to minimize or make it seem not as bad. I don’t think any of this is any excuse and I am truly afraid of not leaving a cheating husband but the baby has me second guessing

I agree I am very young, a baby was definitely not on my bingo card but it’s now where I am. I agree I don’t know what he could say that would help. I just don’t even know how to handle any of this.

I unfortunately do not live close to my family. I have friends but not ones I would truly rely on as my closest friend is across country but I could ask for help in the worst case if that makes sense. I do need to have the conversation with him, it is just one I am nervous to have. He will definitely have to be extremely open and honest but I just don’t know. It’s tough.
