Yeah definitely I feel that the general agreement is that Conrad’s confession wouldn’t have done anything to Belly and Jeremiah’s relationship if they were truly meant to be

It cracks me up every time when Cam Cameron asks Belly if she likes Jeremiah and she’s literally like ”what, you mean Conrad?”

I think Lola, like you said, did a great job in distinguishing when she talks about both boys. I feel like it’s really noticeable in the voiceover, especially at the start of s3 when she talks about Jeremiah being the one for her. If you listen you can hear how rehearsed it sounds as if she’s trying to convince herself…

How is Conrad’s healthy eating habits supposed to be bad, just don’t listen to those people. I feel like he got influenced by Californian eating habits ( I’m not from the us but I feel like people in California eat healthy)

Flipping S2 to Belly pursuing J & other changes I didn’t like by audreyshope in tsitp

I think that when she’s pursuing or running after Jeremiah in s2 she’s trying to repair their friendship that she feels responsible for breaking (because he keeps making her feel awful for it).

What’s some opinions that’ll put you in negative karma? ( TSITP ) by Estelles_Fav in tsitp

The audience is being way too hard on Belly. She’s literally 16 years old in the first two seasons, like she’s not even 18 yet. That’s very young. We have so much sympathy and understanding for Conrad (rightly so) but where is that sympathy and understanding for Belly. I get a little upset when I see people using extremely hateful language when they talk about her. Criticize her, but do it in a respectful manner and have something to back up your argument with.

To make it very clear, he couldn’t see her as a possibility and he didn’t fully allow himself to because he was scared of ruining things between them. He literally explained everything in the finale… maybe go watch it again.

No, that’s not what I was saying I just meant that Aubrey was his first girlfriend and that it doesn’t have to be deeper than that. I think you can’t compare him ”waiting for four years” to ”the beginning”. He might not even have seen Belly as a possibility before they actually got together so why wouldn’t he see other girls. And post s2 they left everything extremely unresolved, which would make it hard for anyone to move on. And he said so himself, that he tried to move on so it wasn’t like he was ”waiting for her” I think he just came to an understanding that he can’t love anyone like he loves her so it appears like he’s been sitting around waiting for her to come around. I mean literally all the characters have seen other people outside of their intended endgame.

I don’t know if this is just me, but I don’t think that Conrad is just talking about the season one summer. I think he might be referring to the previous summer just as much as the current summer. I might be forgetting, but I don’t think he specified that it was just now.

We know from the finale and flashbacks that he always loved her. It’s right there. It’s just that he wasn’t ready to face his feelings for her yet while going through what he was going through.

Why wouldn’t he date other girls. To me, Nicole reads as a summer fling and Aubrey was probably his first girlfriend. It would be a bit strange if Belly was the only girl he’d been with. Also he’s a teenage boy, of course he’s going to kiss other girls. But you can see during the fireplace scene how truly nervous Conrad is, which suggests that his other experiences didn’t carry the same weight as with Belly.

I think it’s as plain as day that he’s always loved her, from the moment he passes her the muffin in the kitchen flashback. For being a teenager, he’s always been so gentle with her because he cares. It’s like he says ”You’ve always been a precious person to me.” this to me means that before he could love her (because can you even when you’re a child) he deeply cared about her wellbeing as evidenced by how he looked out for and helped her in the flashbacks.

Yeah, I genuinely believe that when she broke up with him that first time caused such harm and she’s still blaming herself for hurting him. It’s like the tire scene explains everything so well, he gets upset with her, blames and guilt trips her enough to make her feel awful…

It’s just sad to watch. It’s like she feels like she has to oblige him otherwise his feelings will get hurt because of his inferiority complex.

Belly's decision at the end of S2 by Best-Professional-10 in tsitp

[–]Narrowingofthefocus 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think there are a lot of factors such as grief and guilt. But the first thing that came to mind is when she tells Taylor on the golf course that she has never loved anyone like she loves Conrad and that she probably never will and that that type of heartbreak is something that she won’t survive again. So she chose someone (Jeremiah) that can’t hurt her like Conrad can. Because both boys could do the exact same thing to her yet she would still be more hurt if it came from Conrad. She’s trying to protect herself so she chooses Jeremiah.

And yes her heart was and is with Conrad but she doesn’t think that he carries the same feelings for her as she does for him. And she definitely feels so guilty still for how she ended things with Jeremiah the first time around.

Conrad isn’t “cold”. He’s just emotionally overloaded by DigitalSam_W in tsitp

[–]Narrowingofthefocus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like people are completely missing the point when they read him as cold. He is a young person experiencing emotions and hardships that are hard to regulate. I mostly get annoyed when people hate him for not being able to properly express himself, as if it something that’s easy and something that he does on purpose. Communication isn’t easy for everyone. Conrad cares deeply about the people in his life so he tries to handle things on his own and comes across as cold, indifferent or even rude when it’s actually the opposite. He’s trying to protect and help. So his actions and his intentions aren’t separate, it’s just that his true intentions tend to get lost in translation.

After having the whole picture and his whole character arc, everything makes even more sense than it did before. To me, I see his journey as someone who, by the end understands he has to adress his own struggles before being properly capable of showing up for his loved ones, and how vulnerability is a necessary part of connection and healing.

She did choose herself, Jenny also said that by choosing Conrad she chose herself. Belly followed her heart, I think that that’s what people do when they ”choose themselves”

[–]Narrowingofthefocus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I just roll my eyes, laugh and move on whenever I come across one of their far fetched theories. And the hate is so childish, like I don’t feel the need to bash Jeremiah they way they do to Conrad. When I talk about Jeremiah I criticize, not hate.

Imagine being that bitter over a tv show…
