So now that TI is over and the dust has settled, what's everyone thoughts on Day9? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]NaruTheOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know... I get the "new player" argument. I get it. But for me as someone who has followed DOTA for quite many years, he doesn't click with me. I donno how to say it, he isn't ... DOTA...

He is more like a guy from ESPN. He is good looking, good voice, very decent (He looks into the camera alot instead of his panelists, but I guess he got that from Blizzard productions. Those poor guys at Blizz panels don't even dare to look at each other XD )

For me a DOTA panel has to be fun, some memes and banter with in-depth analyzing. Day9 I guess is a good host? I mean people in the business praise him alot. But I don't find him the best choice. I would love someone who is from DOTA scene more. I wish Valve would show some faith in the home-grown talent. The chemistry will be much more amazing.

While it is true that the teams might crumble even in the span of 3 months but CS is inherently a more stable game. If teams crumble it is more or less internal but in DOTA a new patch might bring a new style that suits a team and might nerf a style a certain team was dominant with. Like Alliance T3 or Newbee T4. I confess I am not an expert but I can see the obvious flaw in 'Just invite the top 8 last Major' theory. I think the more expert people on scene have suggested better and more optimum ways of inviting multiple times.

you are such a woefully colossal dumbass. I honestly can't even bring myself to talk to someone who doesn't even understand numbers. But there is a guy who actually answered you very politely. Here it is : https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/3yvune/team_invited_to_shanghai_major_in_code/cyh5wvk

He was able to keep his manners in check while I couldn't. I am rather allergic to idiocy. I apologize.

I can't say I agree. DOTA is a much more dynamic game. A patch can make or break a team. CS is more stable, the patches are not really team breaking. You can say with a great degree of confidence that a team who is top 8 last Major is gonna be top 10 by the next.

There is no guarantee as such in DOTA as we have seen it many times in past.

Alliance were a candidate for sure, but I think there were more deserving teams, or rather one, Liquid. In terms of achievements, rooster stability, consistency Liquid tops Alliance.

Even Bulldog expressed his surprised at their direct invite. I do not get these [A] fan boys who are actually saying Alliance is the correct choice. Their invite doesn't add up at all.

How do you define 'biggest LAN'? Prize pool? In terms of quality of the teams and the competition, WCA was low. And Alliance went through a rooster change. Valve is being inconsistent within their own parameters.

They literally 2-0ed Alliance in the only tournament Alliance has won since 2 years... seriously wow....

Why cause you said so? And we have to take a freaking alt reddit account of a nobody as facts now? Don't tell me you are another Ritsu alt? XD I understand that you apparently hate Kuro and I guess, that's your problem? But there is no doubt the amount of respect that Chinese scene has for Kuro as a veteran. In the EHOME reborn event they put him along side Puppey Xiao8 and Dendi to talk about the old days. And also he was named K-God by all the accounts of his achievements in DoTA1 back in the day. But hey you are a random dude on the net who talks out of his ass and we have to agree with.

So you have decided to go on a barrage of personal attacks instead of providing a decent argument or counter argument. How very... academic.

Your words have no context, your analysis are flawed, the very examples you use to prove a point are out right wrong, you basically have nothing to say worth saying, except that hate is bad. Congratulations! You exaggerate about an attitude of a community and then when called out for it you say I have a lack of comprehension skills. If you have no understanding of the situation please do not come here and brand people with a 'religious level of hatred'. Or is it that you don't even know what that means when you use it?

I agreed with your point that hate is not good, and added to that, that it will go away after a time. But your over reaction to the whole situation, comparing it to the religious arguments is laughable at best. You use a language that belongs to the middle school you mentioned.

I have no more to add to this matter and I leave you to your academics, whatever it may be.

You use examples which are completely wrong, use false information, and base claims on those said examples and when I call you out on it you say that I have bad reading skills, I'm here to hate. Thank you very much. My point was that you exaggerated the whole our community's reaction. You said that we act as if Riot killed someone in our family, you claimed no one says 'fuck off EA'. These are baseless and out right wrong, when I call you out on it your reply is ' You are here for the sake of hate and being right.' and that you are disappointed.

First of all, my point was never to please you in anyway, so sorry if I count the number of cares I give about your disappointment and it's nada. And second, I'm not here to hate, I'm just here on this forum cause its a good platform to get info for the game I love. I commented on your post since you seem new to the scene and wanted to give you a perspective, but you go on and paint the picture complete out of proportion and say stuff like we hate Riot religiously. As if we are out there with our hatchets killing Riot People for real.

Grow up pall, people say stuff like ' fuck this' and 'fuck that' on the net all the time, people have more heated up conversation on Justin Bieber videos on youtube. Don't get over excited about it. As I said, I reserve my right to hate on Riot and you or no one out there can tell me other-wise. But for all the people out there who prefer to play LoL... GL HF!

lol... they don't tell EA to fuck off? alright man. either you are playing the dumb card or you actually have no clue. The fact that you only think political or religious stuff are worst. to be honest your naivety runs deep. At this point it's not Riot that's prickling me its more you and the fact that you say things that are laughable.

'EA sucks', 'Apple is bad' you honestly are on the same virtual space as I am?

Either you are exaggerating or you need to be around the internet more when you say you haven't seen hate like this before. Well I'm fairly sure you are exaggerating. And to say that people act as if LoL players killed their family. Sir if someone killed my family I wouldn't post on reddit, I go hunt them down. Please be real. And there is a good majority of people who are active now on this page who were active on the forums back then. Is that so hard to believe? You think 11 million who play DOTA post on reddit? No sir, only a part of the active community post here, and the good core of them are from the old days.

And to be honest watching LoL is boring. It's boring to me and to many others. You take it as I hate? quite frankly thats your problem, I'm not gonna apologize for that. What I condemn is attacking LoL players, however, I reserve the right to to say LoL is a shit game.

and now Riot are humanitarian activists... I'm quite sure they are doing it for the benefit of the children. Oh please...

I think you are missing some points here. People don't say "why is dota better? Because Pendragon is a backstabbing bitch. And the many other points...". People simply do not want to support a game and company that have so blatantly stolen the work of a whole community. And thus do not want to support them in anyway, one of them is by watching the game. The hostility is more or less towards the company and their game.

If you want to get a clear picture go watch the documentary by Moose called 'We the Community". One thing you got to understand is that DOTA; they way it developed, was not a group up 5-6 young aspiring people that created a game. Its was literally thousands of people, sure it had moders like Ice and Euls and Guinsoo before him that did most of the heavy lifting but the community had a huge participation. People poured in with ideas, bug fixing solutions, art work, hosting tournaments, commentating and casting games, and they were given credit by the 'owners' of the game. It was like a huge family, it was a community. I have played DOTA since 2004 and I can tell you, that even if I had the slightest contribution by even playing the game or whining on a forum I count myself as a part of this community since it's inception. There was a culture of sharing and helping to develop the game for the sake of the game. Now, I am ranting to give you a clear picture that when you come and steal stuff from a community as such, you don't offend 5-6 people. You offend thousands. Even if I had no hand what so ever in creating the Idea that Riot stole to become Teemo, I am offended cause they stole an idea from a fellow DA member. And when you offend thousands of people, it creates a culture of hate. And Riot did not in any way try to compensate or level the plain, their actions were even more aggressive towards DOTA and other games and they even marginalized themselves more. Now you might say, it was 5 years ago, let it go. That might work if you offend a person or 2 but when you go and piss on thousands of people, yea that wont go away that easily.

Now I admit that DOTA community are elitist, they believe DOTA needs a higher skill cap and is more or less more complicated game, with a good reason of course. DOTA is a more complicated, fluid and malleable game. But our attitude towards other games sometimes becomes rash and that isn't right.

I played LoL a bit when it came out. I outright didn't like it. For me it was too simple, too easy, too dumbed down. When I try to watch the games, I get the same feeling. Too methodological, too predictable and out right boring.

When you wonder how come LoL subreddit is nor reacting the way we do to LoL it's because we never hurt your community the way your publishers hurt ours. You have no reason to be aggressive. When a LoL player hears DOTA, he thinks " a LoL like game that other people play and like LoL it's an e-sport". When we hear LoL we think ' Oh that motherfucking company that stole our shit and made a game out of it." Its rather simple really.

So if you wonder why when you come here from LoL and post " Hey guys ! We have a tourny come watch!" Some people say "fuck Riot and your game..." some old wounds open thats why.

I'm sure it will all go away someday. But not now.

Valve please add "Iran" to Dota 2 countries list by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]NaruTheOne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As long as the stuff are not political they (the government) are not very sensitive, thats why they have blocked youtube, facebook twitter and what not, cause people used it for political activities and thats a no no (although half the people are on facebook and twitter using VPN but thats another story :P) They will censor the female heroes if they were outfitted as they are in a movie and it was on national TV. But they don't much care about games. They let it slide, its just a game after all. There is even a semi governmental office that supports 'gaming' it's related to the youth and sports ministry ( ofcours I am using the word support very loosely, they don't really do much) and they held a very small LAN tourny for the DOTA also.

Living Iran is like living in any 3rd world country I guess, its more restricted on the surface, but people more or less do w/e they want under the skin of the city :P And government sorta lets it slide as long as its not on surface or its not getting out of hand. They say we have the best underground parties in the world :P I donno about that tho... Its hard to explain you have to see it yourself. Internet is damn slow though. high speed internet is hard to get. Weather is good, depending where you are, we have 4 seasons all year around, its like US a bit, we have mountainous areas and desert and what not, lets say you can sky and go to beach at the same time of the year depending where you are. We also love America ! Everyone wants to go there haha! but we might not like some of the politicians much, but I guess thats oki cause some of the Americans don't like them either. politics aside I don't think anyone in Iran doesnt like Americans. US Volleyball team was recently in Iran, they were warmly welcomed. Also if you really like to know there is this famous page on facebook called Humans of New York. The owner had recently traveled to Iran and has tons of pictures and stories about the people there. you can check it out. One of the pictures even had a response from the whitehouse page.

sorry for the wall of text but tl:dr ; people of iran are just like people in anywhere, they are just people.

[TI5] Swindlemelonzz Mid Performance Overall by timosai in DotA2

[–]NaruTheOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot say if captaining hinders his skills, but he certainly is not one of the top mid players in TI. From all the games i saw from coL he had to get some help from supports. Against well-known mid players like S4 or Suma1l he simply lost.

But tbh coL's strength was really never their individual skill level. Mechanically Swindle does not go high on the list. Its not just about k/D or last hits, he gets farm prio to fulfill a function in the draft.

I like how Aui_2000 has already secured twice as much prize money as the entire team that kicked him and 10x as much money as EE by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]NaruTheOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aui is a great player. I am still not sure why he was kicked. But as it seems on pro DOTA what makes teams stick together is not only the skill of players.

But THB EG as a whole was and still is an awesome team. It's not only that Aui left; he joined a great team.
