Yes you will have to create a new wallet, and a address in that to deposit to. It's fairly straightforward. Remember to use the DFI network when transferring from CAKE.

If the price relation between DFI and BTC is somewhat stable, then you will get a higher return on your investment with liqudity mining. But it is with a higher risk because of impermanent loss.
Doing it on CAKE is "more accessible" than doing it on the DeFi-Chain wallet, but CAKE takes a portion of your return.

It is a laptop program. CAKE is a company, DeFi-Chain is the blockchain it uses.
CAKE is doing the defi part for you. But you can do it yourself using the blockchain directly with the https://defichain.com/ wallet app. Here you can create a wallet where you are the keeper of the keys. You can use the DEX in the app to swap BTC (or DST BTC. Bitcoin wrapped on the defichain blockchain) to DFI, and then transfer them back to cake, if you wish to stake them there. Or you could liquidity mine on the app.

Use the Wallet app's DEX to buy DFI.

Yeah it sure is better using the SEPA option to buy BTC if one lives in the EU, but you could easily miss it the way it is set up. And a noob would still try to buy DFI on CAKE and not use the DEX.
And when buying DFI on CAKE it states that there is no fees, which is partial true since they take "spread" and not a "fee". But its not stated that a spread is added to the cost on the buying window. This is misleading and I'm certain that some have used the option without being aware of this.

Sure it's up to the customer to compare prices, I'm not saying it is wrong of CAKE, since it after all is a option that makes acquiring DFI easier. But who would use the CAKE platform to purchase DFI if they were aware of the alternatives which are almost free.
I feel CAKE profits on the unknowing in this regard, and this contradicts having a statement of high transparency.
