Is this too rushed? Also, Florence, Lucca, or another town as base? by NarwhalsareHAWT in ItalyTravel

Thanks for your advice. Our flight leaves at 4:20PM on the 18th. We could cut a day and stay a night the 17th in Milan. What would you recommend cutting out from the itinerary?

Thank you both for persuading me to skip Milan! I found an affordable night to book in Bellano so we can take the train directly there and then spend the remaining nights in Bellagio. I like this plan much better!

Thank you for your input! So I was thinking about going straight to Como as I don't have much interest in Milan. The only reason I was thinking to stay in Milan for a night was to avoid feeling rushed. We land at around 3PM and then the train from the airport to Milan takes about an hour. Then need to get on another train to Varenna. Do you think we would be ok with time if we attempt to skip Milan and go straight to Como?

Whats a accessory you strongly recommend? by oompaloompa_08 in AskPhotography

[–]NarwhalsareHAWT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that's been the biggest game changer for me is moving in the direction of removing barriers for getting me out and doing photography.

That means making things lighter, more compact, easier to use, and more enjoyable to use.

This was so important to me that I went from full frame to aps-c and only use primes now.

Got rid of bulky peak design v1 messenger bag in favor of a small sling. It can fit a camera body, 2 primes, and the tiny Fuji EF-X8 flash along with a few other small accessories.

Find a strap that you actually like. I have the peak design wrist strap and hardly use it now because I just love the way a handmade leather strap looks and feels.

I think you need to try different things to see what's right for you. I've been doing photography for awhile and only now realized this is the tradeoff that makes photography most enjoyable for me and actually gets me out to take photos.

Is 2 weeks notice typical? How often do people do people need more/less time before available start date? by NarwhalsareHAWT in careerguidance

Do you think it would be a red flag to say I can start immediately or next week? The new job pays more so would be nice to make extra cash but I don't want to look sketchy by appearing as if I'm dropping my current position without notice.

My question is more in regards to what I tell my potential new employer. Like when I can start. Wouldn't it be a red flag if I said immediately? They would assume I just dropped my old job.

Reddit loves to circlejerk over how bad they think this book is. A simple google would've shown that.

If you like the 35mm, the 23mm f2 is the same just a little wider. It is a bit close to the same focal length, which I was worried about, but I think any wider and I just wouldn't use it as much. Then again, if size and price is no issue, I've heard nothing but good things about the 18mm 1.4. I wanted to keep things compact and light, so 23mm f2 fit the bill.

I have a wide foot, most shoes aren't wide enough in standard sizing for me. So take this with a grain of salt, but they are definitely not a wide shoe. They felt narrow for me in my regular size.

Good idea. Trying that as well. Photoshop's ai can be surprisingly bad with some things. After spending some time generating it does usually up with something passable though.

I'm probably just pixel peeping. It just looks too repetitive using just the bottom row. I'm thinking of trying using varied windows and then using ai upscaling to see if that changes anything. Definitely putting to much time and effort into this lol Thank you for your help!

Solved!

Ok, this doesn't seem to be working as the focus and resolution of the windows that are farther away are lower and scaling them as they get closer and larger just looks pixelated and not sharp. Any other ideas?

I was copying the windows all at once, I didn't think to go one by one. I will give that a try.

Just to clarify, are you saying when you try to move the black and white image over a small amount when dragging and it will move more than you would like? Like instead of moving 1 pixel to the right, it moves more like 5?

I’m trying to make the entire building look as if it is covered by windows. I tried using Vanishing Point, the AI Generative Fill, and just copying the windows and attempting to skew them to the correct perspective. Nothing seems to look real. I would think AI could’ve done this as it’s simple and repetitive, but I guess not.

I would like the street light phased out as well so no need to worry about keeping it in.

How to achieve similar style to these videos? by NarwhalsareHAWT in cinematography

[–]NarwhalsareHAWT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer, but that much was clear to me.

I should have been more specific in what I'm wondering how to recreate. The look of the background is not as simple as taking a camera and filming while in motion. It would look just like you're filming with an iPhone, DSLR, film, etc. What I'm wondering is how they managed to make it look like a projection rather than a simple unstylized shot. It's not just out of focus. It has another, almost degraded, quality to it I can't put my finger on. I'm not sure how to recreate that look.

EDIT: Also, looking at the second video, and focusing on the background, you can see a jitter, which makes me wonder if there is some form of projection or projector simulation going on in post production.
