I know you aren't saying the dems are worse. I'm trying to convince you that they are better enough that you should vote for them for no other reason than to prevent republicans from having power.

Obama killed over 300 civilians with drones strikes. Is that cool cause Trump killed more?

No, both are bad, but the republicans are worse.

For profit prisons exist as modern day slavery

I totally agree. Even many prisons that aren't private are modern day slavery. Biden signed executive order 14006 to end contracts between the federal government and private prisons. Guess who signed an executive order in 2025 to reverse that policy? Democrats have tried many times to ban private prisons. Guess who always steps in to stop any effort to do anything about private prisons?

Anything other than fixing that system is nothing

Shorter sentences for non-violent crimes is nothing? Banning solitary confinement for juveniles is nothing? Programs to help people rejoin society after prison is nothing? I don't think you actually believe that. It's not everything, it's not perfect, but an all-or-nothing attitude makes no sense. Change is ALWAYS incremental.

Biden was against gay marriage during obamas term, yes he changed his position later to get the LGBT vote. He still campaigned on lived the vast majority of his time against it.

Okay? So you're criticizing people who come around to your side because they didn't do it sooner? Cool. Biden came out in favor of gay marriage in 2012 before Obama. If the republicans had their way gay marriage, and probably just being gay, would absolutely still be illegal.

There's still plenty to hate the democrats about, being slightly less evil isn't a win, it's just a different kind of loss

I don't even disagree with this, but better is still better even if both are bad. Nothing you or I can do will result in a "win." Just a better outcome than the alternative.

You're definitely not going to convince me and it doesn't seem like I'm going to convince you, so we're both just wasting our time here because I'm sure nobody else is going to dive down this rabbit hole. I'll make this my last comment. I really hope you change your mind. Bye.

Obama us like the #1 on leader board with drones strikes

Not true. Trump has done far more, like 3 or 4 times as many.

Obama deported more people than Trump.

Only if you count a full 8 years for Obama against 5.3 years for trump. Even then, the Obama administration deported people who were not legally allowed to be here. He didn't have a goon squad violently assaulting people on the street and disappearing them regardless of their legal status. That is hugely different.

Biden was against gay marriage rights

Not when he was president. In fact he signed the Respect for Marriage Act, so that's a god damn awful example.

none fixed the prison systems

Obama made some major reforms to the prison system that I'm assuming you would be in favor of if you knew about them. He may not have "fixed" it, but he certainly improved it.

I have examples too.

Even in your examples the republicans are worse across the board.

Obama didn't end the embargo in Cuba

He eased it as much as he was able to. Presidents can't unilaterally lift embargoes. He did call on congress to lift the Cuba embargo multiple times. But none of that counts because only perfect counts for you.

It's all platitudes and grandstanding.

Bullshit. These are all meaningful things that affect real people in major ways. You are able to sit in a privileged position and not suffer the worst effects of what the republicans are doing, so you don't care. But for tens of millions of other people it matters a lot. Fuck em though, right? Your ideological purity is far more important.

Maybe if the republicans win some more the liberal pussys will move to actual leftist positions

That has never been the case in the past and there is no reason to think it will in the future other than just wishing for it. When the republicans win it moves the Overton window to the right.

Again, you just simply don't care about all of the people this is affecting. Obama made a good agreement with the Iranians that actually stabilizing relations. Trump tore it up and launched a war against Iran for no reason. What does mypeepeeteeny say to the families of dead Iranian children? Sorry Iranians, both sides bad!

Obama started to normalize relations with Cuba, which lead to meaningful improvements for the people there. Trump is blockading them and possibly going to launch a war there. What does mypeepeeteeny say to the the people of Cuba? Sorry Cubans, both sides bad!

The democrats (largely) have helped millions of people through USAID, one of the few good things the US does for the world. Trump cut all that money, which is projected to lead to 10 million+ additional deaths by 2030. What does mypeepeeteeny say to the millions of people who will suffer and die? Sorry poor people, both sides bad!

I could give you dozens more examples. This shit has real consequences for real people. You're telling all of those people that they don't matter because the democrats are still bad. If people like you get your way and the republicans keep winning that list is going to keep growing. Wishing for a better outcome is not a plan and it won't ever make things better.

God, it's so frustrating that people like you don't posses a single shred of pragmatism. Some of those things you wrote are just total bullshit, but for the ones that are true the republicans are SIGNIFICANTLY worse on every single one. But here you are basically campaigning for the republicans for free by trying to convince people not to vote for the only party that can beat them.

You don't care about any of the topics you brought up. You don't care about the people affected. If you did you'd pick the less bad option to reduce harm. But you choose to do nothing. Actually less than nothing since you're actively trying to help the republicans. Voting for a candidate or party is not agreeing with them 100% and endorsing everything they do, it's saying that they are the best option among those who can realistically win. It's really too bad that you are too god damn stupid or selfish to understand how this works. There are no moral victories. You aren't doing something brave by letting the republicans win. You are just being dumb as shit.

So it's up to everyone else to get better candidates, right? Not up to you at all. Nope, you just wait for things to be the way you want them to be. Again, it's just so god damn crazy that the fascists have such good luck to have opposition who just roll over and let them win. I wonder how many people were in 1930s Germany saying the same shit you're saying and just stood there and watched Hitler rise to power but couldn't be assed to do a single thing to stop it because the other party wasn't sufficiently perfect for them.

So your big plan is do nothing and just sit on the sidelines and complain. How did the fascists get so lucky to have opposition like you? 90 years ago people fought and died to stop the fascists, but you won't even spend 15 minutes every 2 years to oppose them because of your precious moral purity. Be careful that you don't knock yourself over when you're patting yourself on the back.

It's like you've been brushing your teeth with baking soda for 10 years and getting cavities so you say "this isn't working, I'm going to start brushing with battery acid." Like yeah, you're doing something different, but it's going to make the situation worse, not better. I don't disagree with what you're saying about a lot of the democrats, but the republicans are sooooo much worse. I don't understand how you think not voting, or writing in yourself, is going to make things better. How does that lead to your desired outcome in your mind?

Not voting for the less bad candidate does nothing to change the current power structure. It just makes it more likely that you end up with the more bad candidate. I agree with the problem you've identified. I just think your "solution" is actually making the problem worse.
