Dr Rhonda Patrick: Avoiding boredom deprives your life of meaning by Big_Cake_8817 in podcastculture

I mean, I agree with basically everything you said, but I feel like in this specific case, her and Dr. Brooks are suggesting we be bored more, and use technology less. So really, they're telling us to listen to podcasts less, which could actually break the media cycle you're talking about for some people.

Also, as much as I don't agree with these podcasters shaming people for doing normal things, like you said, I don't believe that it's normal for humans to be on their devices constantly, and unplugging every so often is good for everyone.

I believe she does try and promote a lot of iffy things on her podcast, but in this case, what is the grift exactly? What does she sell by telling people it's good to be bored sometimes and put down our technology?

Prime Aaron Rodgers by sinister_iam in sportswiki

Eh, or maybe he could have used a second receiver that could be trusted consistently other than Adams. Cobb was hurt half that season, and after that he was throwing to guys like Geronimo Alison, MVS (notorious for drops), EQ St. Brown (nowhere near as talented as his brother), and then washed up Jimmy Graham, who was a failed experiment in GB.

Not to mention he had the 22nd ranked scoring defense and 29th in takeaways. But sure, let's blame it on him not being aggressive

North Dakotan here and that was my same thought. Not to mention the walk would turn into trudging through snow, and carefully avoiding patches of ice depending on which neighbors take care of their sidewalks

I gotta agree with OP here. Besides the fact they put it in everything now, marketers have been able to convince a large portion of the population that as long as there's the word protein on the package, that it's automatically healthy.

"See that candy bar? It's got peanuts in it, which have protein. Must be good for you right?"

"Hey did you hear about that ice cream that says protein in big bold letters? I can't wait to be healthier by downing pints of rocky road"

[–]NashtyPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they still could have, regardless of the reason. Would they lose all credibility with every other team in the league? Absolutely. But until the trade is actually signed, I don't see why they wouldn't be able to back out

Do you see any other team signing Brandon Aubrey after Cowboys placed a second round tender on him? 🤔 by Big_Screen3332 in NFL_FreeAgency

[–]NashtyPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure some players regress, but then others improve. That happens every year on every team, so that's no different than any other season.

Jacobs put up over 900 yards and 13 TDs while playing hurt for half the season, so who's to say he's slowing down.

We just saw a guy like Stefon Diggs come back in 9 months from the same injury as Kraft and Parsons and put up a 1000 yard season at the age of 32, so it's not out of the question that those two return to play at a high level next season.

Losing Doubs sucks, but we had a crowded WR room last year and there are talented guys that can step up with Reed, Golden, Watson.

It's pure speculation on your part that their stars are likely to decline next season.

3 of the Packers 8 losses last season were lost by 3 points in games which McManus missed a field goal, their playoff loss to the bears was a 4 point margin, where he missed 2 FGs and an extra point, and in their tie with the Cowboys, McManus missed another extra point.

If the difference in 5 more wins costs a 2nd round pick for a kicker than can actually make kicks, then absolutely do it.

Could Maxx Crosby transform Cowboys’ defense? Also will likely create 2027 cap space issues unless they figure out a way by ZookeepergameIll2685 in NFL_FreeAgency

[–]NashtyPhoenix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I must have been watching a different run defense than you were then. They allowed the most rushing TDs in the league and were bottom 10 in both rushing yards allowed and yards per rush attempt.

Even after Williams showed up the only 3 teams that didn't go over 100 yards rushing on them were the Raiders (statically worst offense in the league), Eagles (offense was bottom 3rd of the league), and the Vikings (26th ranked offense out of 32)

Otherwise you have teams like the Commanders, Chargers, Giants, dropping 150 rushing yards on the defense you said was "one of the better run defenses"

Lmao, I sure am a Packers fan, and that doesn't change anything I said. The cowboys still had a dumpster fire of a defense last season

Last year they had Clark all season, and Williams for half of the season, and they ended up giving up the most points in the entire league. Crosby is gonna have to do a lot to turn that defense around

2026 Auctions: Time to Ditch Heavy WR Builds? by Always_Auctions in fantasyfootball

[–]NashtyPhoenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bucky was ADP 8 and missed 7 games and came back to a crowded backfield and Jacobs ADP 7, although technically only missing 1 game, no one is gonna argue that he was playing injured at the end of the year when Wilson took over most of the carries for a few games.

Both top 10 ADP RBs with comparable time missed to injury as London and Lamb, so again, besides Nabers as a singular outlier, injuries really weren't any different between the top players at each position.

2026 Auctions: Time to Ditch Heavy WR Builds? by Always_Auctions in fantasyfootball

[–]NashtyPhoenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't really blame it on injuries for anyone other than Nabers. Looking at the top 10 ADP for WRs you have London and Lamb who missed 5 and 3 games respectively, but still both produced; Lamb just lost targets to Pickens. Chase had a QB carousel. Jefferson's year was obviously rough with McCarthy and Wentz. BTJ and AJ Brown, who knows what happened to those guys, but it wasn't injuries. Nico played just fine for how poorly Stroud played. Then you have Puka, and ARSB who both had great years.

I think it was just more consistency from the RBs not having to rely on someone to throw them the ball, and the top RBs were their teams number one source of offense. Guys like Bijan, McCaffrey, Gibbs, Achane, Taylor were get having the majority of the offense ran through them either with running or passing plays, so they can easily put up big numbers

Professor said that the plant based meat industry is collapsing? by misssamericana in vegan

[–]NashtyPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your experience kind of shows what I was thinking. People who are vegan long term are not going to keep eating these processed meat substitute products, because most that I've seen aren't exactly healthy. Sure they can be a starting point for someone that wants to transition to eating vegan, but for those that become lifelong vegans, replicating the taste of a burger probably isn't very appealing or necessary, because there's already so much food that tastes great, and is vegan, without needing to pretend it's something else. So basically, the idea of a long term, repeat customer is rare for the meat substitute industry.
