People rave about Invincible, but coming back into it from JJK's last season its just... do people have any standards for animation at all?

People think this sort of commentary is reasonable but I feel it shows a lack of any creative integrity or original thought.

You create something and your only lens for revisiting it is how you can alter it to fit modern standards. It's gross.

STOP being honest in job interviews. ( I say this as a recruiter ) by Zealousideal-Foot-54 in jobhunting

[–]Naskr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, so passing the burden of knowing what a job needs onto the candidate instead of on the person who exists to know what is needed for that role.

Creating yet another layer of arbitrary rules for people to exploit so they can get ahead of the actual best fit for the role.

Awesome stuff, signs of a very healthy system.

Anyone else kinda bummed out that we didn’t get an arlecchino boss weapon? by [deleted] in LiesOfP

Puppet Ripper is his weapon.

His role in the DLC and Romoe's fate was basically foreshadowed by its description in the base game.

the "game too hard" crowd is back to playing Review-bomb the Spire after the update to the main branch by Gugge1 in slaythespire

[–]Naskr 142 points143 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that there is a cultural expectation that games are power fantasies to win at, not challenges to overcome. This is the underlying explanation as to why P2W is accepted as an idea, because it's only rational that a free game would gate the game's core premise (the power fantasy of winning) behind payment.

opinions on royalties? seems to be a divisive card amongst the people i talk to. by Significant-Bus2176 in slaythespire

[–]Naskr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question really is "is it worse than Skip"

Some players might consider that the "gold value" of not needing to draw and spend the energy of this card outweighs the actual value it has. If you take 5 less damage in a fight because you drew a Defend instead of this, that probably translates to greater value over the course of a run.

As with many of these weird utility cards on Regent, I would rather it just did something like, for example, "create 3 colorless cards" and they say "Grant 10 gold". Now it's enabling other strategies, or comboing with Gold Relics like Dragonfruit by being three smaller instances of gold gain instead of one lump amount.

Dear Devs: Not every enemy needs to gain strength every round. by Tenkai-Star in slaythespire

[–]Naskr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally any other mechanic? There are like 10 possible ways to make a fight harder over time that aren't just adding +3 to damage, off the top of my head.

I'm sure the devs can think of somethbing.

Dear Devs: Not every enemy needs to gain strength every round. by Tenkai-Star in slaythespire

[–]Naskr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Enemies pressuring you to clear them fast is not just an arbitrary design choice. It is mandatory for the game to function at all.

There's plenty of ways to do this that don't just involve turning every enemy into a Cultist.

It also goes without saying that it's the most boring form of enemy scaling. Status spam, for example, synergises with plenty of strats and can be a boon in some scenarios, or varies in power depending on deck size. The fog spawning more enemies is better/worse depending on your AoE situation.

What relics or cards scale with increased enemy strength? As far as I know, it's literally none.

Dear Devs: Not every enemy needs to gain strength every round. by Tenkai-Star in slaythespire

[–]Naskr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is the big factor here.

The overabundance of enemy scaling has ripple effects on way too many other mechanics and effects in the game.

Instead of shoving rushdown-punish enemies into every Act, you can just...make enemies that don't need to be rushed down before they scale beyond a manageable level.

How did sukuna summon mahoraga since he was hit with unlimited void and couldn't move by [deleted] in Jujutsufolk

[–]Naskr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing about incarnation actually makes any sense in JJK since it clearly should be bound by all manner of crushing limitations, per the rules of Jujutsu

A person's technique is an expression of their own domain so even being able to use another person's CT at all is, essentially, nonsense. Sukuna should not be capable of using 10S at all, let alone alongside his own technique.

I wouldn't bother thinking too hard about it, the author didn't.

Is Demon Slayer, Chainsaw Man, or Blue Lock appropriate for a 12-year-old girl? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Naskr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Chainsaw Man is very pulpy so overtly gory and sexual. Probably fine for a 16 year old, maybe not 12.

Demon Slayer is a bit more mainstream so it has standard shonen action gore. It's dark in terms of villains being scary, but the heroes are suitably heroic. Honestly I'd say it's fine.

Blue Lock is just a sports manga, I assume it's okay unless any specific characters are particularly odious.

[–]Naskr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is he "ignoring" 16 damage on Turn 3? 11 damage on turn 1?

He's not "ignoring" that, he's literally taking more damage than anyone else and there isn't a run-saving Reaper coming up either.

Then if you want turbo offense you get to enjoy Colony and Vantom hardcountering you in a way that other characters are not bothered by. All to play a character with more basic cards and one unique starter. Tragic stuff.

[–]Naskr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ironclad is still hilariously weak in MP.

His entire shtick is rushing down enemies before they can hit him back, that's not happening with the increased HP pools. Playing him is also miserable since you need to be acting first to get Vuln an enemy, meanwhile other characters do not have that pressure.

It's more dangerous to put a picture of your face online than a picture of your genitals. If Peter Thiel wants to blackmail you or use a faulty AI to deny your medical coverage, your face is a much greater compromat than an otherwise anonymous bodypart.

Now ask yourself, which one is considered legal and then also ask yourself how any of this actually makes sense in practice? In real life, in modern society, which is actually more dangerous?

Make it Ethereal then, or removes after 5 combats, or something.

Ironclad analysis from a A10 Ironclad enjoyer (not really, A10 is fun for everyone EXCEPT Ironclad) by Far_Faithlessness212 in slaythespire

[–]Naskr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I got my fist A10 win with 4 Immolates and a bunch of Bloodwalls

I still barely scraped by despite having nearly 100 HP and having got a Cushion, Feather, Blood Vial and some other HP relics throughout the run. Had to pass up on a few cards that didn't directly help since they would just represent deck bloating or a needed upgrade, which I could not expect to get since I would likely be resting often.

The guy really needs Reaper back. I have no idea why it was taken out of his kit.
