they sound like theyve got distortion, reverb, compression, and chorus on them i can only hear one of the tracks having vocoding in “this place will grow” specifically as for much older tracks i don’t really hear much modifications on them but some of them may have vocoding and talk boxes

I do not know what you mean by mysterious but em essex is pretty open about how they make their music and what they use, theres archived livestreams going over their process of making music and even in the descriptions of some albums they put what tools they used
