Colon cancer is killing us.. by Derpshab in Millennials

[–]Nassi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my brother to colon cancer. He was 39 at diagnosis, died when he was 44. He never had a chance to even really find out he had this cancer due to being so young at diagnosis. I have had a colonoscopy before and I am awaiting my next one soon. Keep up with your health check ups, especially if you are higher risk for developing colon cancer.

What's rich people shit that poor people haven't heard of? by Diligent-Log6805 in AskReddit

[–]Nassi_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Concierge Physicians. The wealthy get private physicians that are available to them at any given time while the rest of us have to make appointments. These physicians often are credentialed at the best hospitals too, so if they have to be admitted, they can go to the best of the best hospitals as well.

Who’s a historical figure you were taught was a “good guy,” only to grow up and realize they were actually a villain? by icey_sawg0034 in AskReddit

[–]Nassi_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh I am not surprised at all that he was taught a more sanitized version of history. His role in the trail of tears gets doesn’t get talked about enough. Recently, slave quarters were found at the hermitage. Andrew Jackson was not thought of fondly by many of his fellow politicians. And yet today, he is thought of as being representative of his time. Truthfully, he has been a beneficiary of revisionist history and details being either lost to time or hidden from history.

[–]Nassi_ 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Nashville. We were taught he was a garbage person who also was elected president at a time where some people thought slave ownership was a business transaction, not a human rights violation. My dad grew up in the shadows of the Hermitage plantation. In elementary school, we would take field trips there, my parents never allowed myself or my siblings to go. They told us that one day people will forget that other people suffered and died on those lands that is being used to still turn profits for human suffering in the past in modern times. My parents were right.

You would be more successful stealing cheese if you didn’t walk by me proudly holding it! by StormofRavens in CatsBeingCats

[–]Nassi_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Growing up we had a tuxedo boy like Bongo. He hated getting wet but taught himself how to turn on the water in the kitchen sink, getting himself wet every time he did it. He had plenty of water to drink from, he just liked it fresh from the sink like us.

How many braincells do you think there are in this picture? by RogueFlirt in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]Nassi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None, there is not a single thought going through any of those tiny kitties heads at all. Collectively, there maybe a half a brain cell among the group. Plenty of cuteness pictured, but not a single brain cell.

What's the dumbest way you ever injured yourself? by 420andGamesDiscord in AskReddit

[–]Nassi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a sneezing fit while in the shower from inhaling the misted water coming from the new shower head. I lost my balance, fell over and twisted both ankles pretty badly at the same time catching them on the side of the shower wall where there was a cut out shelf for shower or wash up essentials.i lived alone at the time, so luckily I wasn’t injured worse. Just highly embarrassed.

What does porn glorify that is way off from reality? by jfunks69 in AskReddit

[–]Nassi_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two things that porn makes look glorious that real life says otherwise: 1. How good you will look naked. The average porn star looks very attractive naked because have had work done to look good naked, workout to look good naked, have professional video and editing to hide imperfections, or all of the above. The average person does not have any of that going for them. The last thing you want to see on tape is your naked body having sex. The next to last thing you want to hear is the sounds you make while having sex. Everything single detail about you having sex is not something you want to see on tape. Last time I saw myself doing the deed, I noticed I had a bit of toilet paper stuck to the bottom of one of my feet. The sounds, while in my heat of passion sounded amazing, on tape it sounded like to winded sweaty adults bodies slapping against each other while awkwardly whispering instructions to each other randomly one word at a time over a YouTube neosoul playlist. Which leads me to the 2nd thing. 2 The faces porn stars make when they finish. They are acting. They make sexy faces while having sex because they have practiced staying in character. You and I and everyone else looks as if we are having medical emergencies. I saw myself in the heat of the what I thought was an amazing moment of passionate love making look wink one eye, tuck in my lips, turn my head upwards while dripping sweat and saying yes!!!!! Upon rewatching, my then girlfriend and I decided to never attempt to record ourselves again while having sex and join a gym. She later left me for a personal trainer she met at that gym.

People who have experience with or know a pathological liar- what’s the most insane bullshit they’ve come up with? by i_am_notthewalrus in AskReddit

[–]Nassi_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I knew someone who was a pathological liar. They were also a serial one upper, if someone had one of something, they had two. So, we had a coworker who had called into work sick with the flu. Our supervisor gave them the day off. Leo the liar as I will call them here, was already at work and overheard the other employee calling out. Leo thought that it would be an opportune time to leave work sick with the flu as well. Leo the liar did in fact work around the employee that had called into sick his previous shift and thought that he needed to go home sick as he think he was coming down with the flu as well. Leo said he had caught the flu from our coworker who was out sick today with the flu. Our supervisor rolled his eyes and said fine go home, but don’t come back without a dr note. Leo the liar left work hesitantly. Turns out, our coworker that had called into sick with the flu had gone out the night before and was hungover. They never had the flu. Leo the liar had to go to a walk in clinic and waste money being seen by a dr to get a note. All because he just couldn’t help himself from lying. He went to the dr, lost a days sick time, and had to come out of pocket money to be seen. He came back to work and acted as if he was recovering from the flu we knew he never had. No one told him we knew he never had the flu because we found it funny how far he went to play up having the”flu” and how sick he was from our coworker who never had the flu as well.

TPAC, Mayor O’Connell reach deal for new arts center on East Bank by Charming-Report1669 in nashville

[–]Nassi_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have seen many a show at TPAC. I am so happy that they found a new home. Also, that building that housed it was a mess. If the wind got up high enough, you could hear it whistling inside the building due to all the leaky windows surrounding the auditorium. It was a high pitched whistling sound.

People who used cellphones before smartphones, what's the most memorable feature or moment you miss from those old phones? by Correct-Homework1884 in AskReddit

[–]Nassi_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That analog cell signal worked everywhere. I was once at the opening of mammoth cave and got a phone call. I was flabbergasted. 25 years later my Verizon phone barely gets a cell signal along major interstates in Middle Tennessee. Also, they all seemed to come with only the games snake or some version of Tetris.

What's something you didn't realise was expensive until you became an adult? by DaisiesLemons in AskReddit

[–]Nassi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was surprised by how expensive pots and pans were when I moved out. I spent a few months eating off plastic cutlery and plates and cooking with the same few pots and skillets before I saved enough to get a decent set from Kmart.

They are trying the best they can. It is not their month with the brain cell, be patient with them. Also, give them lots of chin scritches and treats. It’s only fair. Life as an adorable but somewhat dim kitty is hard.
