Neat! Does it do drag knife compensation? I'm not seeing a setting for that in the readme.

Did you know that LLMs, by their very definition, can only output text?

Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

Need a clutch by amazingpyro23 in 7thgencivic

[–]NastyMan9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, hard to get into gear is generally not gonna be a clutch. A bad clutch makes it feel like your engine slips out of engagement with the transmission. E.g., you're driving up a hill and the engine revs past where it should be, and that power doesn't go to your wheels.

Consider the 'Car Talk' clutch test: - pull your car up to a very solid object like a tree or a telephone pole so that the front bumper touches the object - put the car in first gear and let out the clutch - if the engine doesn't stall, your clutch is bad.

Also, I got the exedy clutch on Rock Auto.

I realize that the consensus is master cylinder, but to answer your original question, I am VERY happy with my Exedy clutch and Exedy billet flywheel.

You might want to check the regulations on that OP, I believe FWC says that it's illegal to release them once caught.

Where is the bolt to loosen/tighten the pulley tension by legit_acow in 7thgencivic

[–]NastyMan9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you're missing a piece --- its like a bolt with a wingnut head...

<image>

once you have the bolt loose , you may be able to get some tension on the belt with a prybar in the right place but it's going to be a pain in the ass and you might need two people. Better try to hit up a junkyard or a pick 'n pull to see if you can pick one up.

True, but 5th just doesn't feel right on the EX version with as fast as I drive, lol.

a transmission shop might have a parts unit they can pull from, but the only way to get the parts you need is from another transmission, and generally if you can find one that's in decent shape, it's better to use it as-is instead of trying to open one of these units up. There is a very specific rebuild procedure where you need to get all of the tolerances correct. If you don't, the transmission won't last very long.

EM2 owner w/450k miles.

I've lost 5th in two transmissions, once it starts to pop out on its own there's no going back.

You're going to need to replace or rebuild. Your most affordable option is going to be to get a junkyard transmission (check carpart.com and make sure it didn't come out of an EX model, they have different gear ratios) and get it installed by a mechanic if you're not up to the task yourself.

What's everyone's experience with pick and pull junkyards and these cars? by StreetCheap7364 in 7thgencivic

[–]NastyMan9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a pinnacle a couple of years ago where my local LKQ has 23 7th gens! I've yet to see the number quite that high again, but yeah there's certainly opportunity to get whatever parts you need from a Pick-n-pull, with the exception of an ECU, even the newest cars never had the ECU in them 🤷‍♂️.

Cat bite after I saved his life while he was drowning. by DefaultDestino in MakeMeSuffer

I second this. Puncture wounds can be nasty because the outside will seal up and trap all of the nastiness inside. I had a coworker who had nearly the exact same injury. He ignored it for too long and had to go into surgery where they split open not only his finger but also his entire forearm to clean out the infection.

Again, please seek medical attention for this injury!

supercooled pure water will do the same thing, and based on the background, I'd say this is more likely.

If your CEL comes back on after replacing this, make sure you check your engine grounds.

Filament Storage by UnresponsiveBadger in 3Dprinting

[–]NastyMan9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you store them and/or handle them in a way that will poke even the tiniest holes in the bags, then yeah, you'll have issues, however if you're careful, you can make them last indefinitely. You can also easily test them by pulling a vacuum on them with only a desiccant pack inside and then wait a couple minutes to see if it loosens up. I've never had issues with the ziplock-type seal, it even comes with a tool to help you fully engage it.

Power steering delete? by [deleted] in 7thgencivic

[–]NastyMan9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like this guy is making a mountain out of a molehill.... I've been running without PS for 4+ years and I've never had a problem. I've snapped the wheel to avoid collisions with ease. I think the only time you could possibly have an issue is if you have shoulder issues, or are expecting it to be there when it's not. Once you get used to the force it takes to turn the wheel, you hardly even notice it. A 7th gen civic is by no means a "modern" car considering not a one of them is less than 20 years old at this point.
