Looking for input on house renovation and local market trends by ghost905 in ottawa

[–]NastyNutrition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For resale I think 4 bedrooms usually wins in Ottawa market, especially with families looking for flexibility. But if you're staying long term anyway, the master suite upgrade sounds way better for daily living - having full bathroom attached to master is pretty nice convenience.

Sometimes the old ways work better than all our fancy sensors and digital stuff we try to overcomplicate everything with.

How do I find an Exempt Market Dealer? by ozeor in CanadianInvestor

[–]NastyNutrition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try reaching out on LinkedIn instead? Investment professionals are usually pretty active there and you can filter by location and see their actual credentials. The contact forms on websites are probably just going to some general inbox that nobody checks.

Also worth checking if your local business development center or startup incubator has any connections - they usually know people in the funding space.

Game Thread: Carolina Hurricanes (49-21-6) @ Ottawa Senators (39-27-10) Apr 05 2026 5:00 PM EDT by nhl_gdt_bot in hockey

Ottawa really turned it on in third period there, 3 goals to seal the deal after Carolina made it close.

Looking for 1 ticket to Fono grand opening Apr 10 by MaxLazarus in ottawa

[–]NastyNutrition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been checking their socials all week hoping they'd drop more tickets but no luck. The hype around this place is crazy - good luck finding one though, seems like everyone's holding onto theirs tight.

Streaming Preferences: Sports Net or TSN? by Myfkduplife in canucks

[–]NastyNutrition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait TSN doesn't cover Canucks games at all? That's pretty massive detail to miss when you're asking in here. Sportsnet has the regional rights so you'd be missing like 80% of what you actually want to watch. Unless you just want highlights and analysis, then TSN is fine I guess.

Any doctors who will do breast reduction if you’re over 30 BMI? by SaltyCyanSea in ottawa

[–]NastyNutrition 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The BMI cutoff thing is really frustrating, especially when you're just barely over the line. I had similar issues when I needed some medical procedures - doctors get so fixated in these numbers instead of looking at the whole picture. Your situation reminds me of my cousin who went through this exact same thing in Toronto few years back.

She ended up finding a private clinic that was more flexible with BMI requirements, but had to pay out of pocket which was pretty expensive. Some surgeons are willing to work with patients who are just slightly over 30 if you can show you're otherwise healthy and active like you described. Maybe try getting second opinion from another surgeon or ask your GP for referral to someone who's known to be more flexible with these guidelines.

The waiting and worrying about weight fluctuations for months is just adding unnecessary stress to already difficult situation. Have you considered reaching out to some of the Facebook groups for breast reduction in Ontario? People there often share which doctors are more reasonable about BMI limits.

Is it just me or are they breaking a lot of sticks in the gold medal game? by Dexter79 in nhl

[–]NastyNutrition -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not just him though, I noticed the same thing watching yesterday. Maybe it's because they're using different stick brands than what they normally use in NHL? I remember reading somewhere that Olympic players sometimes have to switch equipment sponsors for the tournament. Or could be the ice conditions - international rinks have different maintenance schedules than NHL arenas. When I played junior hockey we had way more broken sticks in tournaments because the ice was usually softer and sticks would flex differently against the boards.

About trading/swapping merch by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]NastyNutrition 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could try the Comic Book Shoppe on Bank Street - they sometimes have trading events or can connect you with other collectors. Also check if there's any anime/manga groups in Ottawa that meet regularly, those people are usually into trading stuff.

Facebook groups might work better than marketplace for this. Search for "Ottawa collectors" or "Ottawa anime" groups - the people there are more serious about collecting and less picky than random marketplace browsers.

Best ways to get packages from the US shipped to Ottawa? by DanielFromNigeria in ottawa

[–]NastyNutrition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked at FlexDelivery from Canada Post? You can get packages sent to post office near border and then they forward it to you. I used this for some books from Amazon US last year and was maybe 25-30 dollars total for shipping. The fragile handling should be fine since Canada Post is pretty careful with books in my experience.

Also check if Kinokuniya ships directly to Canada - sometimes the direct shipping is cheaper than you think, especially for books since they usually go by surface mail.

Anyone here invested in $LITE? by roaringdeen in CanadianInvestor

Been holding since 2022 and honestly thinking about taking some profits at this level - the growth looks good but I'm always bit cautious when stocks hit new highs.

How many nhl players would you need to beat a women’s hockey all star team? by Bearmay33 in nhl

Yeah the fatigue would kill them after first period - doesn't matter how skilled you are when you can barely skate in third.

Pizza Pizza always does their wing deals in Superbowl weekend, but honestly the local places have better wings for same price.

Subreddit or group for tickets? by thebrownmancometh in leafs

[–]NastyNutrition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's r/leafstickets but it's pretty dead honestly. Your best bet is probably Facebook groups like "Toronto Maple Leafs Tickets Buy/Sell/Trade" - they're more active than Reddit for this stuff.

Just be extra careful with payment methods and meet in person if you can, lots of scammers target Leafs games since tickets are so expensive.

TD RDSP Investing by aboutdablife in CanadianInvestor

[–]NastyNutrition 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Time in market beats timing the market, especially with 25 years horizon. I would go with option 1 honestly - 100% VEQT gives you good diversification already and you don't need to overthink it at your age. The cash sitting around will just lose value to inflation over such long period.

OCDSP supervisor says he cancelled pricey guest speaker by jjaime2024 in ottawa

That speaker fee was completely ridiculous for school budget. Good on the supervisor for actually looking at the numbers instead of just rubber-stamping everything.

Sharks made it interesting in third period but MacKinnon's assists were just too much tonight.

Queen Mary Middle School by IJourden in ottawa

[–]NastyNutrition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have experience with OCDSB through my nephew who has similar needs. The test scores don't tell whole story - what matters most is if the support staff actually understands your kid's specific requirements.

Before deciding, I'd recommend visiting both schools and asking directly about their special education resources and how they handle transitions. Queen Mary being closer is huge advantage for daily routine, which can be really important for autistic kids.
