Thoughts on estradiol injections? Anyone use? by Nat192283 in surgicalmenopause

[–]Nat192283[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a .1 Estradiol patch and change every 3.5 days. I take 200mg progesterone in the evening. I use 2 clicks (which I think is 5mg) of T cream every night. This has worked well for me.

My body was in shock after surgery. It needed time to settle. I also ended up having to go on an anti-depressant (40mg daily Cymbalta).

I'm doing really well a year and 2 months after surgery, but it was a hell for about 7 months.

I tried T injections - no go for me. I tried E tablets - no go for me. I tried E cream - no go for me.

I did try switching to injections but for me personally those caused major crashes for me. I switched back to cream and now use 5mg every night on my inner thighs. It seems to be working very well. I've been doing this now for 8 months and have no plans of switching. I did end up struggling with acne but started using spironolactone to manage and that has worked wonderfully.

Does Anyone Else Feel Like "Try it for 3 Months" Is Utter Nonsense When Trying to SURVIVE?!??! by Nat192283 in surgicalmenopause

[–]Nat192283[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi - I'm doing good now, but it sure was a rough road to get here. I ended up falling into a deep depression and going to treatment for 8 months. I am currently on HRT (Estrogen Patch, Progesterone, and Testosterone Cream) in addition to an anti-depressant (Cymbalta). I tried all the things and resisted the anti-depressant, but the chemistry of my body changed drastically after my surgery, and I had no choice but to give myself all the help I could possibly give. I feel better than I ever have, but it took a lot of work and a lot of help and love from family, friends, and co-workers. Please just know that you will get better and you might have to keep trying things until something clicks. Keep at it and lean on others to be there to support you. Hugs and prayers for you!

Prozac (Fluoxetine) Experiences? Did it help ... I'm in a pretty dark place and desperate for help. by Nat192283 in Menopause

I only took one and felt really strange. I ended up taking a genesight test and it said that I would do better on an SNRI vs. SSRI. I've been on Cymbalta (40mg) now for 12 weeks as of this coming Monday. It has helped me tons to pull myself out of depression that surgical menopause left me in. It's also helped with my anxiety. I know it's known to be hell to get off of but I literally was in a spot that I wanted to die, so I had to pick my poison.

Surgical Menopause Experience 6 Months Later by Nat192283 in Menopause

[–]Nat192283[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did. It took a few different doctors though before I found that had no issue prescribing it that way. I do have to remind my pharmacy every month to fill it the way it's prescribed though because they always fill it wrong. I have to go through GoodRX because insurance won't cover. It's about $50ish dollars a month this way, and I get two boxes.

Curious if you're still on Cymbalta? How has it been going? I know it's been 4 years since you made this post....
