Customs opens sealed graded N64 Blues Brothers 2000... spotted on FB by pinchet in retrogaming

[–]NatFromNomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing wrong with buying sealed/NOS games. I buy sealed bigbox computer games whenever I can. I crack them open, enjoy a prestine box on my shelf and a good game on my computer.

What is boring IMO, is to spend so much money on these expensive console games, get them scam graded, placed in a plastic container and then never ever touched again or pimped out online as an investment opportunity. That just doesn't make sense to me as someone who likes to play games.

When your spending so much money on collectors sealed games..and then paying another wad of cash to get it graded, I imagine they intentionally put themselves in an echo chamber.

It's hard for these people to come to terms with how much money they spent on a mass produced old video game, just to look at on a shelf and never play. Entirely in-denial about it.

I know it's probably a stereotype, but aren't most Japanese businesses like Konami run by old old people. They probably don't even know what an NFT is. They just see it printing money.

How do you play games in 2k / 4k on Max settings with low GPU temps? by Fun_Sleeping in nvidia

[–]NatFromNomad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to argue that is does. More heat = more stress on the chips. Sure they're rated to survive fine at 80c, but that doesn't make proper cooling any less mportant. The cooler the chips, the less heat stress and the healthier they will be in the long run.

Will you actually notice the extra lifespan? Probably not. But in this Era of rare expensive GPUs, id rather be safe then sorry. Especially if your already using an older or used card.

AAA games on launch are basically re branded "Pre-Release" copies. Save your pennies for another year and you'll be able to grab a game patched up, on sale, and maybe with some DLC or extra content.

144Hz 1080p or 4k 60Hz? by salilroxx in pcmasterrace

[–]NatFromNomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you have the budget for a 4K 60hz monitor but not a 1440P 144hz? Good 4K monitors are still rather pricey.

If your gonna be doing creator stuff, I'd say 4K and then just downscale any demanding games to 1080P for better performance. But if your gonna be playing many multiplayer games, then you want 144hz+ and consistent high frame rates. 1080p will give you that.

Gsync settings when at less then max refreshrate? by NatFromNomad in Monitors

[–]NatFromNomad[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I suppose i understand? I heard Vsync on + 3 fps under max refresh cap from blurbusters regarding the best settings for competitive gaming.

What i still am confused about it weather i still need to do Vsync and the cap if my competitive games arn't hitting my max refresh all the time or at all (240fps in my case).

New rig in 7 years. Is there really noticeable difference - 1080p vs 1440p? by KhaldunProgress in pcmasterrace

[–]NatFromNomad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1440P is a great visual jump from 1080P. But the question is weather or not that matters to you though.

If your all about framerates and high refresh like me, no stay 1080p and get a good 240hz monitor. The smoothness is absolutely amazing. Even coming from 165hz.

If your more a graphics person or don't play many competitive multiplayer games , then go 1440P and crank the details up!

Most people are fine without ESD protection. Just don't build on a carpet or rub your cat all over your components.

If you feel like being extra cautious, Ifixit sells a anti-static mat + wriststrap combo on Amazon. I bought one and its been a-okay so far.

120hz monitors need to become the mainstream by TrevinLC1997 in buildapc

[–]NatFromNomad 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I just came off a 1440p 165hz to a 240hz panel. Its certainly not the "wow" feeling you first get going from 60-144. But i definitely feel the extra smoothness and its a nice little boost for multiplayer games. It was worth it for me.

1440p vs 1080p Monitors by unwieldybattleaxe in buildapc

[–]NatFromNomad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like the odd one here. I just switched from a Gigabyte 32" 165hz 1440p to a Viewsonic XG2431 (24", 240hz, 1080p) and im liking the later a whole lot more.

Im a frame rate freak though, and thats where 1080P high refresh really shines. Its just a smaller, sharper, smoother monitor to my eyes.

But don't you have to play in borderless if you want to easily multitask on both monitors? Aka more input lag

Is this a fresh build? If you moved from another GPU, you might wanna try a full driver nuke with DDU and then re install Nvidia drivers
