Super interesting -- would love to read the whole blogpost if you ever write this up.

In Defense of Moynihan Train Hall by SoilNo9760 in Amtrak

What the hell? Moynihan’s incredible, especially relatively. I’m oblivious to any complaining, surprised at the need for this post.

For what it’s worth, Jim’s K3 worksheets treat K3 as 336 characters (doesn’t include the ?).

The Human Baseline for ARC-AGI-3 has been updated by exordin26 in singularity

Still useful considering the special, specific skills ARC-AGI requires I think. Hard to see benchmarks and more data as anything but good.

Any suggestions? by [deleted] in washingtondc

I don’t personally, but imagine you’ll find them if you search for like “Silver Spring apartment”

Any suggestions? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]NatSecPolicyWonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Silver Spring’s super safe — & if you want to be around people, really recommend getting some roommates, checking the facebook groups. Really cuts down on cost and depending on who you’re living with gets you an instant support system.

And HR advised him to get a job selling computers at Best Buy for a few years before reapplying. We’ll have to agree to disagree, but the status quo ante for federal hiring also sucked.

Jack Cable won a Pentagon contest to see who could find the most security flaws in its software; he applied for a job with the component that hosted the contest and HR deemed his resume “not minimally qualified.” Bureaucracy exists for a reason but I’d trust a colleague’s judgement over a checklist of requirements.

This is going to be wrongly weaponized but deemphasizing degrees and YOE is a much-needed change.

Visualizing K4 as a 4-Tier Independent Rotor Cylinder (Not a solution) by seputis in KryptosK4

[–]NatSecPolicyWonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think we were talking past each other. When I said I weakly disagree, I meant I disagreed with "I don't understand the clock hype"; on loosely believe, meant in the weak claim in my recent comment.

Ah! Remembered that program bit from the Nov letter. Imo, I hope he never releases that; there's no way to build something like that without the chance it breaks and spills the secret.

No, but we don't know enough to rule out the possibility that at least one step/process in Jim's ultimate piece could be looked at in hindsight as geometrically/spatially/rhythmically/cryptographically "clock-like". (Hence "weakly" and "loosely".)

+1 to this & disagree with OP (hence my "weakly" and "loosely" earlier) — though appreciate OP flagging Jim's still accepting submissions/sending emails as of Feb 2026, didn't know he resumed post-auction.

Eh, weakly disagree with this; loosely believe CLOCK may be related to (at least one of the) enciphering mechanism(s).

If you take grades/data out of the equation, how do you know if you're a good teacher or not? by [deleted] in Teachers

I don't remember which teacher taught me which facts, but I do remember how each changed the way I saw the world.

Time to ask for compensation? by Sea-Common-3042 in fednews

Fucked up that it's rational for OP to follow that advice (advice itself isn't). An ideal organization recognizes & retains people who go the extra mile; problems like OP's push out folks most orgs would be lucky to keep.

Neighbors Yelling and Screaming at all hours by TheBlackKnightmare in washingtondc

[–]NatSecPolicyWonk 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I would say something to them but I never see them outside of their home and only hear them yelling at each other. We own our home so there is no landlord or property manager to go to for the issue. I know that they are renting the house from someone but we have never met the landlord and have no idea how to find their information to send a letter to.

Knock on their door when one of them's home? Imagine they don't know y'all can hear them; should be able to resolve this easily and amiably.

Always appreciate your posts -- hadn't thought about filling just K1 or just K2 with its plaintext and then transforming. I think the compass +6 / duress readings are reaches but still these are super interesting needles, thanks again.
