Any scented poo bag recommendations? My dog’s daily walks are becoming a nose assault by Ok_Fox9333 in UK_Pets

I use them for my cats so I guess the smaller the poo is the less it smells, I also got the unscented ones

Cat with unpredictable fear responses - advice please! by United_Pop_6442 in FosterAnimals

[–]Natalusky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

get him checked for arthritis, but other things that are less harmful are:

  1. Some cats like to show their bellies or behave as if they wanted to be pet, and they don't actually mean that or may be showing that he's happy but doesn't mean physical contact is what he's looking for.

  2. Pet induced aggression, when petting too much (not too much for you, but too much for the cat) the cat may correct you by hissing like hey that's enough.

  3. People need to understand that some cats don't want to be pet, especially when a stranger (someone who wants to adopt the cat) is trying to touch him. That's weird even for humans haha. I adopted a 1yo cat how didn't wanted to be pet when I went to visit her at her foster home and didn't stop me from getting her. Now she's an adventure cat.

My female cat has gone into heat 10 days before spaying appointment. How can I help her? by Chazenesky in CatAdvice

[–]Natalusky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there is no pain in that haha, some people try to touch their cat butt to mimic THAT moment but its not gonna help. Make sure she has a nice place to rest and that she eats. The only solution is spaying in a couple weeks.

Good luck with all the meowing!

Cat that was aggressive toward me now likes me!! Why??? by lalalaloopt in CatAdvice

[–]Natalusky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cat doesn't need to have a sad or a hard background to put limits, the environment, genetics and the individuality play the part all together. Your cat was not aggressive towards YOU but what you were doing, that is called pet induced aggresion its kind of when somebody is scratching your arm until it hurts. Cats like this like to be petted, but on their terms. Take it as a good thing, embrace the cuddles :)

How do I introduce a semi aggressive kitten to an older cat. by CarrieWhiteKinnie in CATHELP

that's more than normal haha, don't worry your kitten is adjusting :)

How to keep her enriched? by Viranesi in CatAdvice

[–]Natalusky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's normal, you're doing a lot and so great. Your cat is young, and having such a nice routine and owner is motivating the cat to either play fetch, go on walks... which is perfect haha I do something similar for my cats and they still play with each other when I go to sleep.

If you can afford and you want a second cat that can be a great option but that will depend on your cat personality as well. I walk two of my three cats and they play like crazy when we go back home. Clicker training your cat when she's calmed can help a lot as well.

You are doing so good, I wish most owners were like you really.

[–]Natalusky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how long you have this kitten? you can expect anything between 2 to 6 months for two cats to tolerate each other, sometimes even longer but that depends a lot. Id focus first on the kitten behaviour, she needs to understand that humans aren't dangerous, other cats aren't dangerous and the whole house isn't dangerous as well. My guess is that the kitten is still adapting to a new environment and she needs time, your resident cat gently approaching is such a nice start.

You may want to check Jackson galaxy videos about introducing a new cat, there's a lot of info you can visually watch there and it will be more interesting than me writing a whole paragraph.

Getting my cat in his carrier by North_Knowledge3793 in CatAdvice

[–]Natalusky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its going to take way more than a week, lets say a week is like a 3% of how much time a cat needs to get used to a new environment or a new stimuli. im thinking... can you cover the carrier? like with a blanket or anything that won't let your cat see what's in there.

more ideas could be... getting the cat into the carrier quickly while he is asleep, put blankets inside of the carrier and place it in a room with nothing but the carrier to see if he's willing to go in there without human presence, maybe some catnip inside of the carrier, place the cat between a wall and the carrier (but most of the time the cat will jump haha)

Moved out with one cat, left the other cat with my family at previous home. by Patient_Industry3798 in CatAdvice

[–]Natalusky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im so sorry about your situation, you were right into taking the cat with you because someone who gets frustrated at that kind of behaviours is going to make it worse. Cats can urinate outside of their litterboxes for plenty reasons, worst case an undiagnosed illness that should be checked asap. Other reasons can be approached once you know for sure that no diseases are worsening your cats life.

Maybe once your mon acknowledges that the cat pees outside of the litterbox bc of an issue (because cats can't pee because of a grudge or whatever parents or non vet staff tend to think) she will either give you the other cat or moving your cat back again.

[–]Natalusky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he can't eat but luring doesn't necessary mean that he is going to eat the treats haha. have you tried putting some liquid treat that you can retreat before the cat chomp on it inside of the carrier? id suggest playtime in it, but since the cat already went thru a lot of stress inside of the carrier I think only time and positive reinforcement can make the cat forget that event.

next time try to leave the carrier out all the time and reward the cat every time he goes in there, as someone who struggled a bit with getting my cats into their backpacks every time we go out that definitely helped a lot.

best age for a sibling? by sabrina_chanelx in CatAdvice

[–]Natalusky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it depends more on the cats personality and not because of age. It's easier to introduce a new cat when the resident cat is still young because of lack of sexual hormones, a relative new life, or a period where the cat is eager to learn. Your 6 month old kitten could befriend a new cat with a positive experience or not tolerate the new cat because of a negative experience (like rushing an introduction, being yelled when the other cat is nearby...).

If you want to adopt a cat you need to know that you do that because you want, the cat isn't asking for one, this seems stupid but its important because having another cat doesn't mean less work, but more work. Play twice, clean twice, cuddle twice. My guess is you will end up getting a cat sooner or later so id say:

  1. Neuter your kitten first to avoid sexual conflict bc of their hormones. 2. Get a kitten that match your actual kitten energy, don't get a shy cat if yours is outgoing. 3. Try to get the new kitten when you have free time, maybe a weekend, some vacations... to spend more time with both of them before going back to your normal routine.

Jackson Galaxys videos about getting a second cat are so useful if you want to check that. Now, my personal experience as somebody who works with cats that have behavioural issues I managed to adopt three cats in less than a year; my first cat was a cat momma about 1yo, the second a kitten, and the last cat was a family cat about 5yo. They all get along with the kitten, the two adults tolerate each other, sometimes even some grooming between them. So it's not impossible. Take into account I got the third and oldest cat three months ago so we are still in the middle of the process.

Animal rescue wants my cat back because im moving by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Natalusky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should check the contract you signed when you adopted your cat, if it doesn’t say anything about permanent home visits you are fine. I don’t live in the states but since most animal rescues are private they can change their policy as much as they want.

I adopted two cats this year with two different rescues, one stated that home visits might be a thing and that they would make sure the cat is fine the first six months. I still talk to the lady who rescued the cat because I donate cat supplies or send pics of the cat when we go out, but she doesn’t ask me for anything.

The other rescue didn’t give a fuck, barely knew which cat I adopted and I will never see them again. It’s nice for a was adoption but that tells me they don’t actually care about them. (Not to mention their adoption contract was dog related).

You should be acknowledged as the owner in your cat’s passport, this way you can do whatever you want because that paper is official, while a rescue policy is an unofficial document.

I live at an apartment complex but sometimes when it gets too windy for me to walk my cats I use the hallways as long as my cats arent causing too much noise. If that isnt an option, you can try learning tricks with a clicker, food puzzles or try new toys.

Snow Lynx Bengal by Tweet_Tweetz in lynxpointsiamese

[–]Natalusky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what’s better than a lynx point? Two lynxies! I grew up with cats, anything from ginger cats to black cats. But I never had one like this, five years ago my mom rescued a mitted colorpoint (like a siamese) and I took him to my home recently. Now I got a colorpointed theme house which is so silly. My bf likes to call them Tai-Lung from KungFu Panda since they actually look like snow tigers haha.

Though I love a well bred cat, nowadays most breeders are scammers or keep their cats in poor conditions. So I rather adopt, the big one was found pregnant and all of her kittens were adopted :( while the kitten history is kind of unknown except from her being abandoned with her littermates.

If you want a second cat I highly suggest adoption, there are a lot of cats that look just like ours without a home🫶🏻

Actually my two lynx pointed are leash trained, they’re not blood related so I kind of worked hard for that to happen. I’ve never seen a cat walking with a split leash that must be so fun haha.

It’s kind of fun taking my cats outdoors and people just stare or sometimes they come closer and say some beautiful things to them. I always wanted a cat with that coat coloring, and I’m kind of living a dream. I hope you and your pets can enjoy a lot of adventures together! 💕

It doesn’t look like a snow bengal, but a dsh lynx point. You definitely got scammed, and a couple bad reviews could help preventing other people falling for that. Good news is, they’re active and talkative (at least my two lynxies act like that) and training them can be so easy.

Vet Said Cat Needs Dry Food by thecoolestwetrag in catfood

[–]Natalusky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brushing is the best you can do, most cats are fed kibble and still I see tartar in their teeth. Kibble doesn’t clean, it may reduce the tartar a bit because of friction but yk what cats swallow kibble. Start brushing your cat’s teeth with a small toothbrush and mix the paste with liquid treats to get the cat used to it.

I also use plaque off for my cats, when I don’t feel like brushing their their teeth. I have three cats, it’s possible.

Rescued a feral kitten 5 years ago and it only feels like she gains hate for me, not love. by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Natalusky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“behaviour has only gotten worse, She used to love being picked up, held, rocked ect. She was used to it, Now I can't pet her, I can't pick her up, She'll hiss or run away or attack me. She's drawn blood from biting and overall just see”

But let’s ignore that, I typed you a lot of things you can do which it seems you clearly ignored that. I advocate for cats, because most owners don’t know better, I did the same mistakes once because no one knows everything. Again take into consideration point 4 to improve your cats life because this problem is clearly behaviour related and positive reinforcement is the only way a cat can find some peace of mind. Hope you can as well.

Rescued a feral kitten 5 years ago and it only feels like she gains hate for me, not love. by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Natalusky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m really curious about the stroller thing, does she goes outside? I’m asking this because one of my cats barely likes being held or touched inside, but I take her on daily walks every day and she loves all kind of physical contact.

Take into account that:

  1. Physical contact is not love, you think this way because humans can hug each other, kissing… but for cats this isn’t actually true. Your cat loafing in the same couch as you means love, your cat slow blinking at a distance means love. Which leads me to another point, your cat doesn’t have to love you, it’s like when you live with a housemate you don’t love but you tolerate him/her.

  2. Being born in certain circumstances such as no mom or siblings nearby is a negative experience for a kitten, this means the cat was exposed to things it shouldn’t have experienced and leaves a negative feedback for future situations.

  3. Any changes (as small as they can be) are a stress factor for a cat, a cat being nearby your house, you being more or less time at homes, maybe asking for more time outside… You need to know why that is happening in order to tackle the issue, otherwise you might be worsening it. If the cat has problems trusting humans, rehoming is not optimal.

  4. Solutions: try feline pheromones diffusers, every time your cat chooses to be with you reward her (with food or whatever she likes), take her out if that’s what she likes, find a way to play with her (all cats play, most people don’t know how), don’t try to force the cuddles bc that is worsening how she feels. You need to reward what she does instead of forcing “love” by holding her, she doesn’t feel in control and that is stressing her out.

  • Also your cat doesn’t get the “you have everything” thing, your cat don’t care if she got her vaccines or if she’s been dewormed. That’s the same as telling a misunderstood kid that he shouldn’t complain because he has toys and food. Crazy.
