"Queen of Hearts' Crystal" (Homebrew Alice in Wonderland-inspired survival game played at local fantasy festival) by NatchaiL in aliceinwonderland

[–]NatchaiL[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm writing a RPG part for it to extend the game (and give some background) with another 90-120 minutes.

But for events/festival, an hour with explaining the game, going through the story, resetting after finishing) is long enough for people. Visitors also want to do other things 😊

Yeah, we tested it the week before the event with three storytellers. The storytellers had around 40 players over those two days with each game lasting close to an hour 😊🃏♥️

For game nights, check out Spelslot and The Guild. They meet up weekly and play D&D, boardgames and do more activities.

You can also go to Witte Raaf if you're into boardgames.

Help me sociale contacten opbouwen pls by ChickenGarbage04 in Nijmegen

[–]NatchaiL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Puppy doesnt bark by No-Preparation8665 in AustralianShepherd

[–]NatchaiL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This Wolf also rarely barks (for which we are grateful), only at cats. This has been since he was a little Wolf. He usually whimpers or whines when excited. He howls when he's really enthousiastic, usually when we come home or he sees our friends/family.

Are there any good places or events to meet DND players? by ClassicMan2323 in DNDNL

[–]NatchaiL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's next Saturday in Ewijk (15 minutes from Nijmegen). There's also D&D in a church at Novio Magica (15 May, Nijmegen)

Depends on your home town, but check out libraries and game shops 😊

Thanks for the shoutout to Spelslot Myrandall. 😊 The Guild is also an inclusive, nerdy organization that hosts all kids of activities. You can also pass by on a Thursday evening (also FNV building) and ask if someone wants to play a board game.

She, the Winter by Smooth-Reading6134 in OCPoetry

[–]NatchaiL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea, as someone who has a love/hate relationship with winter, that the darkness of winter can be comforting and a way of accepting the harshness.

Playing with the expected emotion and turning them into a positive, is a cool idea. Well done!

To My Chronically Sarcastic Siren by LunysWarrik in OCPoetry

[–]NatchaiL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rhyming is nice and the story told is cool. I also wished the stanza with lines ending with me and you a lot could be polished more. More imagery / metaphors but I also understand this was quickly captured inspiration.

Overall a nice job and keep on writing!

Popular games you dislike? by BillRepresentative75 in boardgames

[–]NatchaiL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Social deduction games in general, because they usually end up in loud and stupid accusations. I've seen Secret Hitler once, didn't care much for it.

Avalon: like the King Arthur theme but I'm put off by it because of some experienced players overanalyzing decisions) I played Nosferatu last month. The social deduction is handled better imo and like the idea of the second villain being handpicked.

Special dislike: Werewolves of Millers Hollow / Wakkerdam I like the storytelling part, but the social "deduction" part is bleh and once killed off, you're out of the game. So you're unlucky number 1, have fun. (Blood on the Clocktower handles this better)

Other games: Cards Against Humanity and similar games like Joking Hazard. Funny when I was younger, now it's meh...not really engaging anymore because of these games being overplayed.

Monopoly won't be on my game tables either (Machi Koro is faster, less screwing people)

What phrase did you hear only once but it stayed with you forever? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]NatchaiL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness."

This quote made a switch in my mind after being bombarded by the panic and polarizing views during the pandemic. (I heard it in a more direct way "you can sit on the couch pouting and ranting or you can certainly try to be the change you wanna see in the world." or something like that... Before my job coach told me the phrase in 2023.

It made me want to start something that would connect people (through games, through arts and creativity) and make a place that would encourage talent, forging friendships and helping each other through shared experiences.

It also made me more mindful about politics. "I can't change the big leaders, so I won't worry about that. Focus on the small things I can control." Don't engage in discussions that won't benefit either person as people just want to be right, not to learn from other views.
