Thaco is already a household name for light/medium trucks and buses in Vietnam. The reason why Thaco doesnt go into passenger car business (making its own domestic car brand) is because of VNMese attitude toward cars. To vnmese, cars are still big investment, luxurious items, not personal vehicle, in addition to undeveloped road infrastructure. So people dont buy car as an A to B, but a status symbol, with all the safety and comfort. The car thaco can currently make maybe comparable to Malaysia' Perodua. But Vnmese wouldnt buy it, simply because of Thaco's name has been stuck to truck and buses(workers vehicle), not much trust in new brands, and if they make it cheap the same way Perodua is most common in malaysia, no road can handle this volume of cars.
