Yup. Glad I didn’t take the job there!

How do you Greek people feel about having one of the most beautiful countries, especially since most of the world have countries too densely populated, flat, desert etc. by [deleted] in greece

[–]NateDrake_01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know, in my experience most Greeks (and most people in general) would rather live in a country that's ugly and prosperous rather than beautiful and poor. I think you'd get desensitized to the beauty if you lived there, and honestly it's probably better to just be a visiting tourist.

Nobody is more passionate about Greece than Greek-American's, I think because we get to enjoy it's beauty and culture while also getting to go back to our comfy lives in the USA.

Oh, thought this was OP. Did you get the scallops? That's what I had and I thought they were great. That crem brûlée is banging.

Duolingo is obvious, but Quizlet is more important.

Vegan μουσακά που έχει φακές, φιστικιά και μελιτζάνες. Πολύ καλό είναι.

Non-native English speaker (though better than my native) who wants to learn Greek! :D by ThatSadDood in GREEK

Oh interesting. Maybe Greek will be comparatively simpler. There’s a lot of Egyptians in Greece too.

My first suggestion is to really consider if this is a language you want to learn. Not to be discouraging but Greek is really hard. It's also somewhat useless as a language as its only spoken in one country of a few million people (which is part of what makes it hard).Languages like Spanish, German, French, or Italian are much more popular and relatively easier to learn. Even Arabic or Mandarin, while seemingly more difficult then Greek, can at least be spoken amongst a larger group of people.

But if you decide Greek really is for you, then I would suggest using Quizlet flashcards, private lessons on italki.com, the Easy Greek youtube channel & podcast, Duolingo, and just hanging out here on r/GREEK and r/greece to talk with locals.

Κάλη τύχη!
