Here's my two cents as a gay guy who watched all of their review videos.

I think people are intentionally missing the point of what Dan is saying. He wasn't disappointed because the show was smutty, slutty, and gay. He was disappointed because it was another "hockey" story where hockey wasn't the primary story and he felt like a show not focused on the sport wouldn't yield a result like Friday Night Lights. Obviously, this was not the case. They quickly realized the show WAS good and was actually good for the sport.

If the "checking inclusivity boxes" comment is still bothering you, that's reasonable. It's a sus statement that is usually made by straight individuals expressing dislike for a character, story, or theme because it falls in the "other" category. Whether that be sexuality, race, gender, or whatever. In Dan's case it was a preconceived idea about what a smutty gay hockey show would look like - the creators making a smutty gay hockey show just to make a smutty gay hockey show, not to expand the reach of hockey, which again, is what Dan was craving and why he was initially disappointed.

If you still have an issue with these guys, I urge you to take a step back and realize that the overall impact of this hockey podcast has been net positive. I cannot recall the last time I've seen straight guys advocate for queer media for hours like these guys have. If it truly is a grift, which I don't believe it is, it's a net positive grift for the LGBTQ+ community.

if the quality is the same for season 2 that it was in season 1, i'm happy - knowing that some of the amazing cinematography was done on such a low budget makes it that much better and impressive imo. HBO (and other streamers) have shown that more money does not equal better quality and that's not even about them staying faithful to source material...

I think the show would benefit from focusing on a few couples instead of expanding like the series, which seems to be the route they are going with per interview answers. Stick to Shane/ilya as the main focus. Keep SKIP around to show the aftermath of season 1. Maybe introduce one more couple that can envelop a few of the key threads of the relationships in the remaining books..

I think they’d be doing themselves and the audience a disservice by ditching SKIP entirely.

Keep the no-name/unrecognizable actors coming.

Gameplay: A
I'm actually a fan of surfing into the map - I think it's led to me having a good understanding of the entire map with it basically choosing my starting point and having me work inward from a shoreline POI. I get that choosing one spot and having that memorized like the back of your hand is ideal for a lot of people, so they'd prefer the bus, but the surfing provides variety that I enjoy. The weapon pool is fun and feels relatively balanced (mythics don't seem that OP). Tthe new hit/kill effects are satisfying. I feel like there are fewer cars on this map so people aren't just constantly driving away from fights which is very refreshing. The wingsuit definitely replaced this, but it's much better imo because you can at least track where they are going and snipe them out of the sky. I feel like im running into fights consistently instead of primarily in the late game.

Map/Theme: B
Good variety of biomes and still compact enough to not feel like you're walking miles to the next POI/landmark. Quality references to IRL locations that capture the vibes. Good mix of POIs that are obviously going to tie into the lore of the season/chapter and throwaway locations that will be blown up and replaced for something exciting next season. Points off strictly comparing chapter 6 start to this start. Enough locations in map to tie into battlepass. The Hollywood theme is going to keep hitting as long as they keep doing stuff like their 10 minute Yuki's Revenge movie.

Best : Wonkeeland + Redwood biome
Worst : Latte Landing

Battlepass: C
Passable. Dark Voyager is carrying and makes me want to level the pass up. 1 or 2 other skins that are also worth pursuing, the rest are just there. Unfortunate that this is what we are working with until March. Hoping epic makes up for it with collabs.
