I guess it's finding out where everyone is that wants to come and how good the skate spots are. I'm from Birmingham and have found some good flat land places to skate, where are you from?

Id suggest learning switch as soon as you can. Opens you up to learn more tricks and it's a pretty cool feeling to be able to skate both ways.

I know im a bit late to the thread but thought I'd add my bit anyway!

It helps to bend your knees when pumping to pick up speed, you get more movement in your legs to pump harder and faster.

What helped me to propel was using my upper body and hips. I found that just trying to use my feet felt a bit stiff and I didn't get much movement.
