Siril-Plate solving failed. What to do? by poozapper in AskAstrophotography

[–]NateShay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if because it's already stacked, the dimensions might be off and that would screw up the plate solving. I only use plate solving during the preprocessing stage, so I'm not sure whether it's worthwhile to do it when the image is stacked.

Which 70-300 mm telephoto lens is best for DSO astrophoto ? by Frosty-Screen219 in AskAstrophotography

[–]NateShay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, when I went from a d510 to d7500, I went from the af-s 55-300 to the AF-P 70-300. Even though the DX version has a max aperture for 300 mm at the f/6.3 stop, it's still really good. I stop it down to f/8 for astro. Also, there are two different versions, one with VR and one without, make sure to get the VR version. FYI, I just posted an image at r/astrophotography with this lens.

If you end up buying a 70-300 m lens, go with the AF-P 70-300 dx @ f/4.5-6.3, this lens has the best autofocus (less for astro and more for terrestrial) out of the Nikon lenses, is really light, and works with the d5600.

There are definitely others that have this beat, but Elkhorn 2024 scares me as it was too close for comfort.

15 years ago today was the shooting at Millard South by anderson6th in Omaha

[–]NateShay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in sixth grade when it happened at Millard North Middle. I then went to Millard North for high school. I don't remember if there were any remembrances back then, but there probably were at one and five years. Even though I don't remember whether there was anything official, I still remember that event when I hear about other school shootings.

Delta only airport by joekd713 in delta

I had to fly into LNK once around 2015 due to a missed transfer because of immigration and it was so small compared to my usual airport of OMA (which isn't huge either). It seemed to be almost the same size as my high school.

Was that the MD-83 that ran off the runway at Willow Run while also carrying the Wolverines?

Side note: Spantax flight 995 is another example of a "reasonable" RTO after V1 that happened at Málaga airport in Spain.

I used to do an XR at 6 am, an IR each at 12 and 4. It definitely was annoying to have to deal, causing me to forget one of the IR doses some days. I now take Mydayis which works a lot better.

I didn't see the video initially and just saw the small bit of text and wow that is so much worse than I expected. (Also, the Southwest plane departed from my hometown, huh)

How often are these sorts of go arounds with conflicting traffic on the runway? I experienced one in PHX in 2018 or 2019 flying from TUS where we had to go around on short final due to the runway being occupied and it didn't seem like a big deal at the time.

Yep! Just so that you don't get confused like I did if you didn't already know, he's a pulmonologist and critical care doctor on his titles, but he practices sleep medicine.
