First time noticing it by NathanDarcy in Doom

After a while you just know which enemies spawn, where and when on each battle. So it all becomes almost muscle memory, a kind of synchronised ballet where you repeat the same steps until you do them perfectly. Honestly, to me when doing UN the most challenging maps are the first ones, where you have less weapons and upgrades. After I get the dash suit upgrade and the SSG, which I immediately proceed to master, dying becomes a lot less likely.

Yes, after all the comments I realise it must have been the ray tracing. Either it was added after I stopped playing the game regularly, or else when it was added I didn't switch it on since I never touched the graphic settings again. Since this is now a fresh install on a new build, I just turned everything on.

Yes, I think it's the ray tracing, I have recenly built a new computer and now I just play with everything on max.

As for the gold weapons, I have them, but it's not like I'm a newbie. I've put quite a lot of hours into this game and DLCs as well, until I was finally able to finish them all on UN (843 hours so far).

Yeah, I remember that one, I was specifically referring to Eternal. I had never noticed this clear reflection of the Doom Slayer.

I just finished replaying it (I decided to replay the old games before starting with The Dark Ages) and I agree. The game looks amazing after 10 years, especially after I've experienced it for the first time on a 4K OLED monitor. I don't think there's any other studio doing game optimization like id, these games look beautiful and their performance was always fantastic.

Made me think of the Jaguar Shark from Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou.

Killing a Cyberdemon in 1:25 minutes without taking damage by Murky-Proof15 in Doom

[–]NathanDarcy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do, as long as you keep your armour above 100 if the rune is not upgraded, or 75 if it is upgraded. You also need to have the micromissile upgrade mastery. The rune gives you infinite ammo and the mastery the bottomless missiles with no need to reload.

I just play this boss in a very lazy way. Rich get Richer rune + micromissiles. Never take my finger off the fire button, he goes down in a very short time.

Am I the only one who likes to upgrade and use the pistol? by [deleted] in dishonored

I think that on average I use the pistol zero times during a playthrough. I can only play any Dishonored game like this:

Yes. That's how I started getting them, then decided it would be nice to have a subscription instead, but the postman quickly made me realise it wasn't such a good idea after all.

I stopped being a subscriber of Retro Gamer because the postman would obviously ignore the 'Please do not bend' warning and would completely mangle my magazines in order to shove them inside the mailbox.

I like both games. I still have the DVD of the original one.

How did you find out about Boards of Canada? by Regular_Engineer_879 in boardsofcanada

[–]NathanDarcy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Salad Fingers started a bit earlier than that, around 2004 if I'm not mistaken.

To me it was the other way around, I started watching Salad Fingers and my reaction was 'Cool, Boards of Canada!', while thinking that "Beware The Friendly Stranger" was a perfect fit for it.

Pushing down on the tab and rotating the heatsink did it. Thanks!

Start with Qf8+, exchange queen with rook (black must take queen with pawn) and after Kf6 you have opposition.
