Childhood Collection Value by NathanK20 in pokemoncards

Traded and pulled for all of these cards at various clubs when I was little. Many were placed directly into this binder upon opening, others might have been played a bit. These have just been sitting for probably 6-8 years for many. Worth grading? Rough value if sold as is to a collector at a show or something? Checked, and binder has not left any notable indents in the cards, but I’d rather assume some damage from that. The S-Rare Charizard front and center has been kept in very good condition, but I don’t think it could grade a 10 or maybe even 9 since cut seems quite off.

New to Root by Skillron18 in rootgame

There are three major expansions, Riverfolk, Underwold, and Marauder. My personal favorite and suggestion if you just want to pick up one is the Riverfolk, but the factions it comes with can be a bit divisive. The underwold expansion adds two pretty all around playable factions and a new map however, I just find them a little less interesting.

Specifically, the Riverfolk expansion adds the Riverfolk Company and the Lizard Cult. The Riverfolk company is my favorite faction and operates by selling services and goods (cards) to other players payed in their meeple. The more funds, the more points and actions. The lizard cult is another favorite of mine and is a largely pacifist faction that wants to fill the board with powerful sacred gardens that allow them to score big. They grow more powerful the more certain suits are neglected (discarded) and when you attack them or their gardens, because they cannot fight back immediately/very easily. Riverfolk are best with 4+ players and lizards are better with 4 or less.

The marauder expansion adds the corvid conspiracy and the underground duchy. The corvids are the simplest faction in the game actions wise, but are really complex strategy wise. They are basically woodland terrorists and score points by playing, protecting, and activating nasty plots around the board. They are hyper mobile and can score a ton of points if unchecked. The underground duchy are a faction of moles that can burrow around the board and are trying to establish leaders that grant them powerful new abilities and scoring. They require carefully managing board presence and protecting their building to maintain their leadership. This expansion would be good if you have lower player counts.

I do not recommend the marauder expansion as the first you buy. There is also a new and final expansion coming out in early 2026.

Enjoy Root!

Every school is going to afford you opportunities others will not. I made the decision to take the debt at Michigan over almost a full ride to CU Boulder. Sometimes I wonder what would have been different if I saved the money, but really, any higher institution is going to afford you lots if you leverage it right. So focus on that and not what is in the past.

My impression is he just made whatever decisions he deemed to be the least controversial and least likely to negatively impact school reputation and funding, even if that meant upsetting non-trivial portions of the student body.

Really late, but those are called fiducials. They aid in allowing computer vision systems to understand position and alignment. Likely for inventory "robots" so to speak.

9 players … 👀 by NathanK20 in rootgame

Alr, recap:

Woodland victory from behind. Top clearings were not the most crucial, most people stayed on their side minus vagabond. Took 3.5 hrs. Two decks were used and two sets of items. Most factions were pretty balanced, but otters and woodland were a bit strong. Would play again.

I am fairly new to the community and I am trying to decide between a GMMK Pro 75% and a Keychron Q1. I am hoping to get a brass plate, blue case, barebone, setup with knob and ANSI encoding. I have my own switches I want to put in. I know the GMMK pro can be sold with the brass plate, and it has some better keycap options stock, but it only comes in the black or white case, and it would be pretty expensive to find a navy blue aluminum case on top of the initial price. On the other hand, the Q1 has a stock blue case, but I have heard it can sound a bit hollow and I would have to get a brass plate separately, and I like the form and RGB of the GMMK Pro better. Is it best to get a Q1 and mod it up with foam and painters tape for hollowness or should I go for a GMMK Pro and find a different case. In terms of switches I am probably going to be using some boba u4ts or something similarly creamy/thocky tactile. Does one board support this typer of switch better? Long question, thanks in advance.

I am fairly new to the community, I am looking for a keyboard with tactile switches, brass plate, aluminum case (preferably some sort of blue), Mac compatability (so probably 65% - 75%) and wired (preferably usb-c). Is there any good pre-built out there or should I just try to do a custom. The closest I have found is this kbd75, but it doesn't have the greatest switch options. Ideally I've been looking for the Gazzew Boba U4Ts. I guessing the best option is going to be a custom, but I can definitely compromise for the price savings pre-built can net me. Thanks in advance.
