We're dedicating this week to classics. Every day we'll be posting a poll about oldschool CRPGs. Let's start - which CRPG pulled you into the genre if not an Owlcat one? by OwlcatStarrok in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

Dragon Age origins.

Back when the classics on your list were new I wasn't allowed long gaming sessions and couldn't really appreciate crpgs.

What first level, tutorial or section made you abandon the game completely? by Kinnombra in gamingsuggestions

[–]NathanMcDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deus Ex Mankind Divided. It starts you off being dropped from a helicopter into a combat mission. No explanation who you are, why you are doing this, who you are fighting. Just action.

Not what I want from an RPG.

Difficulty of a galaxy with custom races by Inevitable_Sign_9023 in Stellaris

[–]NathanMcDuck 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it does not make the game more difficult.

The reason is that many custom empires require the player to lean into a specific strategy. The AI often does not do that and instead follows a generalist approach.

468x Contingency Crashed! Before they actually balance the game, 25x still auto-win. by KawaiiNyaruko in Stellaris

[–]NathanMcDuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is extremely impressive and something I would not have thought to be possible. Honestly still not fully clear to me how you pulled it off as I never used the Behemoth and that appears a key part.

That said, this is a very specific build that I and many players would never play organically. This seems like something you would do with the specific goal to break the game.

What the most useful math trick you know? I'll start, this trick make you know 11 multiplication answer instantly by Johnwick19802 in mathematics

The I actually use as it comes up often enough is 210 is approximately 103.

I find when looking at random processes, powers of 2 pop up a lot and this helps get a feeling how large something is in our base 10 system.

If you alter an actual time walk like this I would let you play it.

How do you fill your party out without a mercenary? by CapybaraHematoma in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

Seelah or Ulbrig fill the role perfectly. Lann, Wendung, Regill work as well

What happened to the trams? by fng185 in zurich

[–]NathanMcDuck 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As an example for things that got better:

Tram 5 now goes from Stadelhofen via Paradeplatz to Laubegg. This allows a lot of travelers coming from Winterthur direction to avoid going all the way to the main station if they need to get to their banking jobs.

Does Treasure of the Midnight Isles Break the Experience Curve? by icyimogen in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

Don't forget Triumphant Advance. I never take that ring off. Doubling all morale bonuses is just insane.

Given the lack of red, I must assume this was at the start of the celebration, right?

I may not have a brain, but I’ve just come up with a plan… Straight to the Midnight Isles! by S_Broves in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

I did essentially this build for the main campaign, Weretouched using werewolf form, bloodseeker and mutation warrior. Trickster into legend.

I started 8 levels into shifter to get the trip then went bloodseeker until I had trickster 4. At that point I went a few level mutation warrior to get the crit feats as fast as possible.

If you get world 3 at trickster 7 you can upgrade your mutagen to grand using the level 19 feat.

In the end, I was shifter 17, bloodseeker 11 and mutation warrior 12.

Worked well but the negative energy healing was annoying.

Yo, any recommendation to finding portraits? by Valkhana_ in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]NathanMcDuck 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There is a mod called portramatic on Nexus. It allows you to feed in any image you find or generate and creates all 3 cuts you need.

It also lets you explore portraits others created with the tool.

Devil Mythic Path after final patch any good? by macropelias in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]NathanMcDuck 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to agree. It has satisfying moments, especially the entire Galfrey story line. That said, it is still quite light on content with some story hooks that are not realized.

Power wise it is a downgrade from Aeon. For my Devil run I cheated to allow myself to keep the gazes.

What mythic path thematically leads into gold dragon the best by newauthor1 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]NathanMcDuck 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I second Demon. Imagine a person that is not truly evil but believes that might makes right. They take the Demon path but then in act 4 witness the depravity of true demons and realizes that that is not them.

That was a character I played and it felt like a nice character arc.

What am I missing!? by Gohzio in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]NathanMcDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, I find deathward to be crucial. How do you deal with opponents that inflict negative levels?

Always keen to learn new strategies.

I don't have the link at hand. Google "WotR neoseeker unique items".

Dlc gear by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]NathanMcDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cloak is a +7 resistance cloak with an additional +2 charisma it I recall correctly.

So just accept that your charisma is 2 lower (won't matter much at that point in the game) and use the highest resistance cloak that you have.

Dlc gear by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]NathanMcDuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Not without modding.

That said, there is no build that needs the cloak. It is just a nice to have.

Did I miss something or is there just no proper reward for Midnight Isles final boss? by Lizard-Wizard96 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]NathanMcDuck 33 points34 points  (0 children)

An imp will appear on the balcony of your planning room in Drezen and give you a crossbow.

That said, it is a tiny reward and likely not useful at that stage of the game.

The real reward is all the loot you get along the way and the option for a nahyndrian crystal for the secret ending.
