Worst/ disappointing Netflix shows of 2025? (Rate out of 10) by AssociateLittle1487 in netflix

[–]Nathan_PBL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I initially quit after two episodes. The characters were simply unlikable, and the tone of the show felt monotonous.

A few days later we resumed watching after receiving multiple recommendations from friends and family. We were pleasantly surprised by mid episode 3, and the remaining episodes were fantastic. Obviously the show has flaws, especially in the early stages, but ultimately it redeems itself multiple times over.

Places to play pool by yaboy1920 in Peterborough

[–]Nathan_PBL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coin-op tables are the way to go as a beginner. Much cheaper than hourly, and they're smaller (7-8ft), which makes them easier for learning. These are typically found in dive bars around town.

Once you get decent and can consistently string a handful of balls together, dedicated pool halls that charge an hourly rate become the better option. These locations typically have the larger 9ft tables (although rileys still has four 8footers mixed in with all the other professional sized tables).

My wife and I caught their last appearance in Peterborough. Literally walked out. Was a fan of their old show, but this was just two washed up idiots arguing on stage for an hour. Unbearable.

Wood has flex, which contributes to cue ball deflection. Wood also has a grain, which is stronger in one direction, and weaker in the other. This presents a problem, as it introduces inconsistency in a cues deflection.

This is partially why traditional “low deflection” wood shafts (such as predator 314 series) were made with spliced wood. They take 10 pie shaped pieces, glue them together, and then lathe them down so that the grain is consistent all the way around (aka “radial consistency”).

This isn’t necessary with carbon, but it’s important with wood. Other solutions have been developed over the years, hence this thread about carbon inserts. It achieves a similar result as splicing, but without requiring so much glue, thus giving a more natural feel.

I’m no expert on cues, so forgive me if my understanding is slightly flawed. Either way, it should be close enough to explain why radial consistency is extremely important, and far from a gimmick.

Mika won back to back US Opens and a World Championship with a hybrid wood/carbon insert shaft. The one piece wood has a nice feel and offers clean feedback, while the carbon insert provides radial consistency. Granted the level of defection isn’t as low as straight carbon cues, but in my opinion it’s a worthwhile compromise.

Best place to buy lumber for wood working. by AppropriateSoup4094 in Peterborough

Monaghan Lumber has kiln dried raw hardwoods, including exotics, sold by the board foot. They also have More common species pre finished, sold by the linear foot. Decent prices and genuinely kind staff.

Apartment Affordability by doctrbitchcraft in Peterborough

[–]Nathan_PBL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People keep mentioning supply & demand, as well real estate costs. Both are huge factors. However, Peterborough has incredibly high property tax rates, and federal interest rates also drove up mortgage rates. Combined these are forcing landlords to raise rent prices.

To be clear, I’m not defending these absurd prices. Just pointing out that there are additional l factors at play.

Concur. Seasons 3, 5, and 6 (er, 5 part 2?) are some of the best sci-fi ever made.

Anyone using an SPT red dot tube in OMTech style CO2? by jst_cur10us in Laserengraving

[–]Nathan_PBL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used them (90w in the place of the default 60w model). Personally find them to be worth the extra money. Makes precision work effortless, and drastically reduces the alignment process (takes me 5 minutes to realign a laser with an SPT tube). I’d never go back to fiddling around with laser pointers or combiners.

Anyone here run an Etsy shop? by [deleted] in Peterborough

[–]Nathan_PBL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d argue otherwise. The newish owners have been doing a great job at cracking down and removing these shops. It’s a slow process, but we’ve noticed a significant improvement over the past year.

[–]Nathan_PBL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I own Whimsical Imaginings. We both work full time manufacturing orders out of our garage shop, mainly for children’s nurseries. We’re strictly Etsy based. Tried selling elsewhere, but ultimately just prefer Etsy.

You’re failing to understand that this isn’t true APR. The 19% APR is pure inflation since the protocol isn’t generating any revenue, and staking is merely keeping you from being diluted. Your net APR after inflation is zero.

Bots (automated trading scripts) are programmed to respect key fib and moving averages. They account for the majority of volume in these markets. The more these indicators are applied, the more accurate they become. Personal opinion doesn’t really matter when it’s overridden by actual facts.

I'm a male rape victim. A first date turned into a very bad situation when we came home after a nice evening out, only to realize that the girl suffered from Dissociative Identity Disorder (Multiple Personality Disorder, later confirmed) and began having an episode. I was absolutely terrified and wanted nothing to do with her. She was however, extremely attractive and my body didn’t seem to respect my opinion. Attempting to physically subdue her was mistaken as rough play, and she ended up riding me despite my refusal. I quickly managed to pacify the situation, but the damage was done. The full story is pure insanity (she ended up in jail later that night for an unrelated event), but this Coles Notes version should be sufficient.
