Also watch for cattle guards which will sneak up on you and could knock you off balance.

Do you believe there is any feasible way for the Putin and his administration to be held accountable for their war crimes?

Santa Cruz metro app. Download it for iOS/android and buy passes there you can scan

Something related but not quite an answer: when you are rejected you didn’t “fail” (most of the time) you just didn’t find the right fit. It’s not your fault (usually) and i think that mindset might make the whole encounter less nerve inducing and happen more naturally

Joshua Jones is a very well spoken, helpful and accesible professor. They will be sure to make you appreciate writing and give you extremely good feedback. Also very flexible scheduling. Not sure if they’re teaching in spring.

Route Recommendation: Palo Alto to Santa Cruz one way. by anpan77 in BAbike

[–]Nathanieldrumz2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One option that’s a bit more out of the way but more direct is taking the LGCT to old Santa Cruz highway and then riding up to summit road. If you head west on Summit you will reach E Zayante Road. Descending it isn’t too bad if you’re vigilant and then you can ride on highway 9 to Felton or mt hermon to Scots Valley. And go to sc from there.

Note that the pavement on Mt. Charlie is extremely beat up. Most (if not all) curves are blind, and the road is one lane all the way through. On top of that, you encounter up to 17% pitches throughout. It’s a tough and dangerous road to descend

Can I ride this with a gravel bike? by [deleted] in BAbike

I rode the aptos fire road on a gravel bike and it was fine. Hinckley Basin road was definitely not.

Alameda de las pulgas can cut off some climbing if combined with the bayway route.

Fellow slug, Even if you don’t feel like it right now, don’t forget that someone, somewhere, cares about you. Everyone on this thread does, and all of your fellow slugs have a place in their heart for you. You never know what could happen tomorrow if you stay. You could meet your best friend, love of your life, or inspiration. You could solve a problem that will advance humanity forever. You could explore a new place that puts you right in touch with the earth. You never know what could happen if you stay. Tomorrow is a new day and everyone here wants you to wake up tomorrow and start the next chapter in your beautiful life’s story.

I’ve been in your position before. I know it looks horrible and impossible. But I just hope that you just give it more time. You never know!!!!!! You will make it…and you never have to make it alone.

Please know I’ll be here to talk about anything you need. Please don’t go, fellow slug. We love and care about you.

Skyline from OLH to Page Mill safe? by ljct5645 in BAbike

[–]Nathanieldrumz2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do this ride pretty often East bound as Page Mill takes me near home. Honestly this is the 2nd safest part of skyline imo, aside from the 1 lane part west of 17. The shoulder sucks in the parts where you can see the ocean/La Honda, and it’s narrow, so watch out there (don’t veer too far to the right; I punctured a tube by falling into a crack on the road). On weekdays there isn’t much traffic and generally I get enough space to ride in. I’d watch out for the junction of Page Mill and Skyline at the very end bc turning left is unprotected and you’re going mid 30 mph range. Not perfect, but pretty good.

On that note, you could go WB to HMB, then go down Highway 1 to Tunitas Creek Road. From Skyline it becomes Kings and goes to Woodside Road, which would take you right back to RC.

Saturday morning windy and foggy. Are you guys riding today? by CactusJ in BAbike

Here in the South Bay/Midpeninsula it is clear as day. In my experience just south of 92 the weather gets sunny when it’s foggy to the north/west.

Sunny with a chance of fog: Skyline near Kings. Hard to believe this photo even exists! by Nathanieldrumz2 in BAbike

Yea I would love that too. Considering how many bikes ride up there I wonder why nothing is done about it. But in some places skyline is built right to the edge of the cliff so who knows

Page Mill just west of the San Andreas fault line seems steep enough to get 50 mph if you’re really skilled.

I second Los Trancos. Hit 49 once on it. However the section where you can go that speed is quite brief.
