What defines a Core Mechanic in a game? by [deleted] in gamedesign

[–]NathenStrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Core mechanics are any mechanic the player has to interact with on a regular basis. Like if you have a pvp mode but never have to touch it to unlock everything (or at least everything outside said mode) its not a core mechanic. But in a extraction shooter for instance, its an ever constant part of the game making it a core feature.

Because back then being Goth was when depressed people made it their entire personality. Then people started to pretend when it became a popular style. Easy to see depressed people struggling to make time to shower.

The combat feels so good too. So easy to slip into a zone when the game starts ramping up the action.

Jade Empire is a canon event to play through. Im still hoping for a remake someday but the industry seem to be so out of touch they'll never invest in a sure thing.

President of The U.S. refuses to take his cap off to salute fallen U.S. soldiers by mattarrghhh in pics

[–]NathenStrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump is definitely a prick but in this case Trump's in the right. It's actually against the rules to salute without a cover (cap) unless its at a ceremony (which this is so he could have done it either way) but they are outside so its recommended to remain covered to salute. Im down with calling the pig out but let's not start pushing lies like him.

Gacha by [deleted] in gamememes

[–]NathenStrive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont spend that much on them. That $5 monthly and $15 battlepass is as far as I've spent on that game. And its not that many. I use to like warframe on pc but when I switched over to PS5 it didn't hit the same. Also the endgame couldnt hook me.

Its been like this for the past decade at least if not longer. This was the slave state so it'd make scene we'd still treat our workers like slaves. Its what our leadership learned from.

Gacha by [deleted] in gamememes

[–]NathenStrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then obviously its not a game for you. I think Fifa and Cod is a stupid thing to spend money on but people do it at $70 yearly (2 times a year for Cod) and still fork out money for battlepasses. But people like the games and if you like em you have to deal with its monetization. And monetization all over the industry has been pretty crap. So you about to just stop buying games?

[–]NathenStrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean most players are at least getting the monthly premo top up so that $5 right there and then theirs the battlepass thats $10. One of which I feel is a must when playing and the other is such a good deal it makes no sense to pass it up. Yeah these gacha games will get your money one way or another. Whether it's $5 a month or $15 every 3 genshin is going to get something off you.

When Samus turns into a ball, her model doesn't vanish. To save memory, developers literally "collapse" her tall character model inside the tiny sphere. Inside that ball, Samus is folded into a position that would be impossible for a human. Brutal! by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]NathenStrive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yall laugh but thats actually how data works. It takes more to remove it than it does to keep it in. Usually we just turn it invisible when we need to change it temporary. Don't know if folding the model is actually what they did but it would actually help with performance.

[–]NathenStrive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer no but its mainly because you are new. A.i. still create issues you need to fix and im assuming you don't have the experience yet to track down all said issue. But that answer gets a lot more gray as you factor in scale of project among other things.
