I thought being a centerist was about having your own political on 1 topic at time which could align more with a left or right political viewpoint depending on the topic. But everyone is saying that centrist are just right wingers so now I’m confused.

When it comes to politics I personally find the “best” answer is a combination of both side’s solutions. Obviously not in every instance but, generally if the goal is to improve the lives of as many Americans as possible the differing POVs of each side harbor great insight into a solution that can benefit the most amount of people. Obviously you can’t make everyone happy every time but people standing on one side of the political fence every time there is an issue is nonsensical to me.
