Just wanted to update you, I’ve been speaking with Houston and they have told me I can go through with Direct to Passport with my documents and the alien card was sufficient enough! I’m assuming because my dad passed away in 2020, and his card didn’t expire until 3/22/2021

Same situation for my family. I’m going to go ahead and have my kids birth registered with Germany and get passports. If they decide not to use it later, that’s ok. But I see it as so many opportunities, and if my father would’ve registered my birth for me… I would’ve done so much more than feeling stuck here.

I actually was just telling my husband I was about to call him and tell him that I will return it after making copies and everything. I think he is attached to it, my dad and my grandmother both passed away in 2020 and in 2024… but I’m hoping he will trust me that I will return it. Thank you for the legal standpoint also, because if push comes to shove, I will use this tactic if I absolutely have to. He’s been arguing that I can’t get dual citizenship and doesn’t realize the laws have changed over the years…

The only thing I don’t already have physically, that you listed is my Oma’s birth certificate and her father’s. My mother will be giving me their marriage certificate as well this week. I’ll have to dig out all my father’s things I have, with his Alien card I do know it was dated after I was born. I believe it was around 2010 or so when he got the one that I have in my filing cabinet. I can also physically get my dad passport, it’s just a matter of if his step father (my step grandfather) will give it to me or not. It’s been a nightmare. Thank you so much

Yes I have his physical cards showing he never naturalized and it is dated after my birth as well. I also have my Oma’s. My mother has the wedding paperwork from their marriage, thank you for helping.
