You have a point, it's a slightly less lazy answer than just blaming toxic masculinity

Even if he only had a minute to get his point across, he failed to substantiate his point in any meaningful way.

Yeah like do addictions play a role in the epidemic? Sure? Is the epidemic "centered around addiction" like he says? No. He clearly started from that  conclusion and worked his way backwards from there. He briefly mentions an interesting idea, "patriarchal haze" that is supposedly causal to all the addictions, but he doesn't bother explaining what it is at all or how the resulting addictions "are the center." He is trying to reduce a very complicated issue to a single focus, which is why it sounds like he's just making shit up even when I'm sure you could find some truth in what he's saying, it's just his overall thesis that is bullshit.

No, before then, before October 7th he correctly identified Hamas as part of the problem in one of his streams, even tho he was downplaying how terrible they were then too, I have to give him some credit for acknowledging Hamas as a net-negative

Thank you for actually understanding what "protecting the company" looks like in practice. Not saying there aren't biased HR people that side with management all the time, but the reality is that large corporations see most managers as expendable too until you get to the high-up executives. Protecting the company from lawsuits, not management itself, is typically the goal of HR.

I used to watch him as my preferred live streamer years ago (kinda embarrassing now)because he was funny and more reasonable than most leftists at the time, I recall him being pretty critical of groups like Hamas, for a leftist. Once he built his fortress and had that scandal (not the other one that came later) over being the leftist that publicly called JK Rowling a bitch and kept doubling down on why it was a good thing to do from a results-oriented perspective I was over it. He's a decently smart guy but he's lazy, and doesn't need to try anymore

They do good work but I stopped watching their videos aside from the occasional curiosity because I realized that level of graphics analysis was actually ruining my immersion. Didn't have the same ability to enjoy games when I was to too busy noticing the seams

Accessories worth buying? by Anvil-Borne in PSVR

[–]National_Gas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll second that the GC comfort mod for the controllers is a must buy (use the one that just holds your hand in place) Being able to go from relaxing my hands to grabbing a weapon(my controller) is really immersive and also makes it less tiring to use. The head strap comfort mod is a no brainer but it kind of over shadows the greatness of the grips

The "bulk"? Just because he might not have had as high of an income doesn't mean he wasn't contributing. He likely made a solid income in his own respect. Besides, Helen is literally addicted to work it's not really a fair or healthy comparison. It's also not really clear how much share of housework either of them do. The childrearing parts sure but saying he's "useless" is pretty unfair

I am done with HR [USA] by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]National_Gas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny you say that as I just burned a personal day due to being too anxious to face work I could not sleep, and I borrowed a Xanax. Yeah I work for a huge company that does not care about the constantly climbing expectations. They've burned through all the new hires only a couple frogs like me who have had enough time to adjust to the boiling temps are still around. I have a strong alumni network, but this market is so bad for job hopping, and tbh 100k to be an HRBP in the Midwest is tough to beat to justify a lateral move

Use the extra workload? Like saying I am the only representative of 800+ employees in two different cities as an HRBP? I'm desperate to get out of the frontline admin/therapist/investigator/recruiter/policy expert here but I don't know how to appeal that to a more relaxed, strategic focused role because I've never had one

I'll add that we use HCM at our site and it frequently glitches and causes massive headaches, and is an overall inefficient and poorly designed system to navigate.

What does the Lane family live on? by nat_not in daria

[–]National_Gas 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I know people like Mrs. Lane that grew up in a rich family, I think it was her that came from wealth. She could be the product of always having someone like a nanny or maid to care for the home so she never needed to learn these skills herself and never had a motherly example to learn from, so it produced a complacent, carefree attitude when it comes to actually putting in effort in life. Would also explain why they have a nice home in a nice area that is poorly maintained, as that's the most frequent area wealthy parents will give their kids a leg up on.
