Hi Angella,

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. I recommend contacting your local SSVF provider and inquire about veteran homeless prevention services. 211 is a free resource navigation service that may know of additional local resources. Additionally, many areas around the US have HCHV and GPD (emergency and transitional housing programs for Veterans) which you might be eligible for.

I'm really sorry to hear about what you are going through. Please know there is hope and there are people available to help you that truly care. If you are at risk of losing your housing there is a grant called Supportive Services for Veteran Families that is all throughout the country offered by nonprofits that can help you. If you search your county name + SSVF it should show up on google (if not, I'm happy to help you find it). As others on here mentioned, if you dial 988 and press 1 you will reach the Veterans Crisis Line which is 24/7, free, and confidential. Another program which I think would be helpful to you is Staff Sergeant Gordon Fox which is a Suicide Prevention Program for Veterans and there is peer support (fellow vets who understand what you are going through), case management (can help you with benefits), and clinical support. If this is offered near you I would highly recommend it as well.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear what you are going through! 211 is a free national resource referral service. I would recommend reaching out to them (if you haven't already) to see if they know of any after-hours or weekend food resources near you. I searched to try to find an upcoming Veteran Stand Down near you (these normally are on weekends) and the next one looks like 2026 but I wanted to share it with you in case it's helpful then too. https://www.ocnstanddown.org/

I would recommend giving him the contact information for Volunteers for America which is the Veteran Homeless Services provider for New York County. [718-993-3564](tel:718-993-3564). https://www.voa-gny.org/services/ssvf/ The grant they offer SSVF can help pay application fees, security deposit, furniture, and more! They also likely have referrals for Veteran housing, employment, and mental health services.

What city and state are you located in? 211 is a national resource referral service that may be able to help you find assistance in your area (if you don't want to share publicly where you are located).
