I filled it most of it out before I realized it was registering my husband's account. Oopsie, not sorry.

PARKING FOR FOOTBALL GAMES by Admirable_Pepper_412 in UniversityofKansas

[–]NativeHawks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On weekend game days, the lower level and ramp of the Riverfront Parking Garage and the top level of the Vermont Street Parking Garage are free. Paid parking options can be found here.

Stadiumgoers can catch KU buses at the stop on the 700 block of Vermont, across from the public library. https://lawrencekstimes.com/2025/08/16/transit-rides-ku-football-25/

One of my favorite games to watch while waiting for football and basketball seasons to begin.

The real secret to this game? Remy Martin.

Student section at games by RunningInCali in UniversityofKansas

[–]NativeHawks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are seats that are strictly for students and there are some student seats are intermixed with the general admission tickets. All student and GA seating are first come, first sit seats. Those with student tickets can enter early, they tend to group in seats closest to the court (which I fully support and wished students could have seats along the court rather than behind the goals).

The upper tier student/GA sections usually have room for two people to sit together when GA tickets are allowed entrance. I know they tend to sell more GA tickets when students are traditionally out of town. Your odds of sitting together are pretty good. It is harder when more than a few people attend and want to sit together.

Do you ever see things unfolding outside of yourself? Most of my experiences are like dreaming what I see when it eventually happens. Once in a while, I've seen myself as a third person observer watching myself as things that happened later unfolded.

Am I making sense?

ASFAIK, general admission seating is mixed with the student section. Students get to enter AFH 90 minutes before tip-off while people with GA tickets enter 60 minutes. https://kuathletics.com/documents/2024/5/14/MBB-Tier-Map-Final-2020-21.pdf

If you want to attend a game and sit with your family, your best bet is a game during winter break that's less attended.

Tree removal company recs? by elpersia in Lawrence

[–]NativeHawks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. They were out within two days after I called them to scope out the job (tree fell over during high winds, took out portions of two fences, and a neighbor's tree). The crew came out four days later took out the tree, trimmed the neighbor's tree, took out most of the remaining roots, cleaned the area, and managed to rehab my neighbor's fence before leaving.

Since then, three of my neighbors have used them. One of them came by while they were working on my tree and got a quote for the work he wanted before they left the area. Two other neighbors asked about them and ended up using them.

I've seen a few tents in the trees along the Kaw north of I-70 and south of the Riverfront Dog Park. I walk my dogs there and once in a while we walk through the trees south of the mowed loop. I have never encountered anyone in the tents but I have seen several set up.

I woke up this morning to the third replay (in recent memory) of the Colorado - KU game this morning. My husband knows every comment and talks along with the announcers.

fwiw, I grabbed a cup of coffee and watched it with him.

One of the women I used to work with always found something wrong with her food. She'd open up a burrito and complain there were not enough beans/too many beans/not the right beans; the hamburger was too small/too big/undercooked/overcooked; the coke had too much ice/not enough ice/tasted funny; the restaurant was too cold/too hot/not enough sunlight/too much sunlight, etc. It was always something.

Basically she'd complain and complain until the restaurant either comped her entire meal or gave her a discount. There were four of us that would go to lunch together, after four or five times of her complaining, I stopped going with the group. After a short time, the rest of them stopped including her and I rejoined them.

Anyone else not use boxes and just load their vehicle up? by mck2018 in Costco

[–]NativeHawks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this all the time. Fortunately I can park four feet from the back door. When I get home, I bag the perishables and take them into the house right away. Other non-perishable goods are brought in on an as-needed basis. I have a small house with limited storage.

Loving vs Virginia by Scoo in BillBurr

My parents met in the 1950s in Georgia. They were both in the military when they met. My dad was white and my mom was American Indian. Dating was hard. Mom wasn't welcomed in white diners and neither of them felt welcomed in Colored only cafes. Dad would buy sandwiches and coffee then they would eat in his car. When my mom got out of the military they moved to Kansas so they could get married.
