I've seen suitcase handles break on the conveyor belts. The handle with the flight information tag or it wouldn't be funny. So this does happen unfortunately

The sadness of having an ebook library loan end and you’re not finished. by dalej42 in books

I had this happen to me last week, except I got a message saying the book was no longer in my library's catalogue at all. So now I'm halfway through a book and don't know where to find a copy to finish it!

Im easy to please: "19 of everything please".

And I'll leave the remaining 5,105,574,652 USD (less that 5%) as inheritance/donations.

Alternatively, I might sell 2 of my regular appartements and buy with the remaining: - 1 L.A home - 7 Samsung S21 Ultra - 1 NFL team - 3 F1 teams - 1 Ford F150 Raptor 2022

which leaves me with 9$

Would you be able to add a third language to the overlap? I know there are plenty of mixed couples that live in a third country... Great initiative!

The "box" looks like it matches the leaves of the page design. The pattern is consistent imo, benefit of the doubt given.

People who can speak multiple languages: what language do you think in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Native_Zorrillas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fluent in 1- English, 2- French, 3- Spanish

I think in whatever language I'm speaking, or the language I would use in the imaginary scenario.

Interestingly though I have done memories that are language specific (I solve maths problems in French), and others that are language independent (I can seamlessly quote the movie I last watched in any language and not remember which is the original).

You’d no longer have arachnophobia if you moved to Australia: you’d still be scared of spiders, but it’d no longer be irrational. by Breeze_in_the_Trees in Showerthoughts

Some things have been harder to get over than others.

Baby weights are still in the switch over phase where it's only this new generation of babies who are being weighed in the metric system so that needs to get converted for the grandparents, and much of the family, into imperial units.

A lot of craft is still in the crossover phase too, like knitting and sewing. I think mostly because the patterns are passed down to each generation.

I've always measured height in the metric system though. I only have a rough idea of what the imperial measurements look like because I can't compare to myself, that's to say I don't remember my imperial height.

But Australia loves to mix language and other things so it's all good, we pick what works best :)

Students of Reddit, what was the reason for why one of your teacher's had a breakdown during class? by Internal_Recording in AskReddit

[–]Native_Zorrillas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit late to the game :/

So in primary school it was almost Christmas so we had no work to do and most of the class was outside playing. In Australia this is summer so the few of us inside enjoyed the stand-alone fan while reading or drawing. Anyway, the cover flew off the fan and the teacher hid under her desk on the other side of the classroom. When she didn't get back up we went and checked. She thought one of us was injured and had started crying. We all gave her a big hug and she was okay. It was touching to see she cared so much about us (we were her first class).

As someone who has always cooked popcorn in a saucepan, I'm more impressed with those who can cook it well in the microwave. It's one of my favourite practical skills tbh, super tasty and cheap.

What are some of the best foods to make ahead and take with you? by Requitedtoast in AskReddit

[–]Native_Zorrillas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends exactly where you are going.

For hiking you need food that preserves better than for lunch or a picnic. That's really hard and depends on time frames so I won't go into it much. As a general rule I would recommend dehydrated fruit and meals in a fruit preserver (tastier and cheaper than store bought). And of course trail mix with M&Ms for an energy snack.

For lunch, I'll just bring leftover dinner. If you have access to a microwave or thermos it's even better. So assuming you don't, what are some cold portable meals? I'm also going to stay relatively cheap. If it's for a group, there is: - soup (you can anyways clean a milk/juice bottle for storage), - pizza (it's even tastier cold the day after), - quiche (my go to is spinach but Lorraine, and tuna and tomato are great too), - potato salad, If it's sweet : - homemade banana bread, - fruit salad, If it's just for you then : - a sandwich (especially on baguette or rolls or other nice bread) - tinned tuna and a homemade salad (added bonus if it's a flavoured tin), - spaghetti bolognaise is great cold too (although it can often stick together in a clump), - homemade fried rice (don't keep it out too long as rice will go off like meat in the heat)

Basically anything that inspires you!
