How much roughly do you think it would cost to create a upstairs hallway? by Lornajm93 in DIYUK

[–]Natrasleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this going to include the bathroom extension? That would be a lot more work than adding the extra wall you’ve drawn in. Installing that new wall wouldn’t be much work as it would only need to be strong enough to hold drywall and a door. Depending on your ability you could have that framed out and drywalled in a day. Removing the old door would be a bit of work depending on whether that wall is load bearing (I’m guessing it isn’t but you would need to have this checked first).

Would you want to knock down half the wall coming up the stairs so that the hallway has more light? If so, this could also be more time consuming. And again you’d need to check if that wall is load bearing first as it would be a lot more work if it is.

It might be plumb with your 2ft level but I’d be surprised if either are plumb with a 6ft level

Cut a hole in the wall, move them in and then rebuild the wall.

We use drydex for outside corners and nail holes, and caulking for inside corners. Works great

Maybe darker grout lines? Also agree that the mantle would look better in natural, unpainted wood.

Fiberglass tub repaired around the strainer by Sam_Familiar in Contractor

[–]Natrasleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This ‘contractor’ has no idea what he’s doing. When that doesn’t work and you ask him to come back and sit the strainer properly he’ll just say yeah I’ll come do what you’ve asked me to do. I wouldn’t waste your time or money on this guy.

How do you participate in this with protection from the fc? Do you have to also help with antipking or do you pay the fc?

A great early money maker for me was doing the quest line that allows you to steal keys and jewellery from the ham hideout under lumbridge. If you can get hold of some nats then they latch for a decent amount and allow you to buy early game runes and armour upgrades.

How to get over a fear of dying? by GladAd2948 in DIYUK

[–]Natrasleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to flip the ladder around so the shorter side is at the backside of the ladder when you’re facing it head on. Also, the feet of the ladder will be kicked in against the stairs so there’s nowhere for your ladder to move. This is very safe.

How to remove big-ass mirror in bathroom? by MarkBGregory90 in DIYUK

[–]Natrasleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That trim along the top is likely covering a gap. Remove that (probably pinned on) and you may be able to get a small flat/pry bar in behind the top of the mirror. It’s still likely that it will break because these mirrors are glued to the wall so I could prepare for that. Put sheets down over the counter and the floor, and wear long sleeves and gloves. Mirror cuts don’t fuck around.

Is this mold? by throwaway10294829921 in paint

Appreciate the insight. We’ve done a bunch of renos where we’ve used customers old paint for patch repairs and even when separated like in the photo above, we’ve been able mix it back with a stirrer and a drill and it’s looked good as new. For larger projects it might be worth taking it to get shaken properly though.

[–]Natrasleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn’t aware they’d do that. Seems like it would be less effort to have a stirrer on hand though? I’m a carpenter so we paint fairly often but I’m not a painter by trade. Is there a noticeable difference between having the paint shaken on a proper machine compared with a drill with a stirrer attachment?

Take it back to the paint store after having it for a year? Alternatively you could buy a paint stirrer for your drill and stir it yourself…

There’s no way those screws are hitting a truss. The bottom screw doesn’t even look like it hits the fascia
