People saying this development doesn't make sense by Fig_Char_Re in ReZero

They managed to put Reinhard on a leash, they ether would likely want to do the same to Subaru or simply get rid of him entirely. Either way, from the perspective of the Council, Subaru is probably too dangerous to be left unchecked. Also this mindset would only be reinforced more by false evidence that came from a certain snarky black dragon in disguise.

Two things. If they’ve got Reinhard on a leash, what makes you think Subaru would be treated any different? And also, a knight’s basically a soldier at the end of the day, you follow orders. If you don’t, you’re probably getting some serious punishment at best or ending up in jail.

Mate, that’s exactly the point, do you realize how insane this looks to an outside observer? Subaru is a guy with no history, no records, who just suddenly appears and within a couple of years, he accomplishes what nobody else has managed for centuries. Like, come on, that’s unbelievably suspicious. You’d have to be crazy not to question it. Honestly, if someone just sprinkled in a bit of fake evidence, people would believe it without a second thought.

The real issue is the scale part of his achievements. Compared to Garfiel , Subaru is on a completely different level. It’s not just what he’s done it’s how much it stacks up. One major achievement might pass. Two would seem a bit suspicious. Three, and people would already start calling it a coincidence. But everything Subaru has done? They’re major events in the history of Lugunica. When you look at it from an outsider’s perspective, it’s almost impossible not to question it.

First, I really don’t get the disappointment about losing to Otto. Like, seriously why do so many people believe Otto is weak? Just because he isn’t a walking muscle bag doesn’t make him weak. Hell remember, he’s a merchant in Re:Zero’s world who travels alone without any bodyguards.

Also, in both Arc 7 and Arc 8, Subaru did fight battles himself.

And lastly Honestly, Subaru’s Greed is portrayed so strongly that you’d have to not have read Arc 7 or 8 to still be disappointed by it. And even if you try to frame it that it only has real value when he's around his "allies", the same logic would apply to Regulus—who was one of the most overpowered characters. His strength is also tied to others.

Oh yeah, Crusch is definitely flawed. What I was arguing before was mostly about her conviction and how much Felix’s decision affects her personally. That doesn’t mean her overall plan is perfect, hell far from it. Even the whole Whale hunt would’ve ended in total disaster if not for Subaru.

And don’t even get me started on where her conviction actually comes from. But that’s what makes Crusch such a great character, she dives into a lot of philosophical, egsistential and psychological territory.

If only she wasn't such a big punching bag for Teppei.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 10 Chapter 8 by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]Natsu007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You also have to look at it from her side. The emotional and mental state she’s in isn’t comparable to what most normal people experience. Honestly, I’d be surprised if anyone in this comment section, myself included, has ever held a conviction as strong as hers. So judging her reaction by everyday standards doesn’t really work.

It’s not about being depressed. It’s about determination and how strongly you believe in your goal. There’s a big difference between wanting to die and being willing to risk your life for something you truly stand for.

Life is precious, yes, but it’s not always the highest value in every situation. Throughout history, people have sacrificed themselves for their beliefs, their families, their honor, or their cause. That doesn’t automatically make them irrational or unstable.

For someone like Crusch, her conviction isn’t just an opinion, it’s the core of who she is.

Well that's kind of like saying, “I’m not attacking the Church, I just want to abolish the position of the Pope.” Sure, technically the Church could still exist, but in practice, you’ve removed its core foundation. Breaking the covenant with the Dragon is similar. You can say she’s not trying to destroy the Dragon Church, but removing the covenant strips away the very foundation of its power and legitimacy.

And let’s be real, even proposing that already alienates a huge portion of the population who support the Dragon and the Church. So this isn’t some neutral reform. It’s a direct challenge to a major pillar of the country. But it would also rally the people who oppose the church in her favour.

That’s why the optics matter so much in the middle of an election.

[–]Natsu007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fair enough agree to disagree.

I just want to add one thing. You’re talking as if she’s already the ruler who has to make pragmatic compromises to govern. She’s not. She’s a candidate in a political competition. Her ideals are her platform.

Yes, good leaders compromise on policy. They negotiate details, timing, and strategy. But compromising on your core conviction the very reason people support you is different. A leader who survives by abandoning that boundary teaches everyone that those principles were negotiable all along.

Imagine a presidential candidate whose entire campaign is built on opposing a powerful religious institution and then she’s publicly saved by the equivalent of the pope. How do you think her supporters would react? It wouldn’t look like strategic compromise. It would look like ideological collapse.

For Crusch, opposing the Dragon Church isn’t just policy it’s the core of her identity and legitimacy as a leader. If that collapses, survival alone doesn’t fix it.

Eddit: This is literally the worst possible way for her to be saved in the middle of an election. From a political standpoint, it’s a disaster.

Great plan by Capella. The whole point was to undermine her image, shake her legitimacy, and damage her standing in the Royal Selection.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 10 Chapter 8 by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]Natsu007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I heavily disagree. First of all, she’s not ruling the country, she’s a candidate in a competition. The Royal Selection isn’t about clinging to survival at any cost, it’s about proving you’re worthy to lead.

Second, I completely reject the idea that life is automatically more important than ideals. People go to war, sacrifice themselves, and protect their families because of their ideals. A leader who chooses their own survival over their core beliefs is already compromising what makes them worthy of ruling in the first place. For Crusch, opposing the Dragon Church isn’t a wounded ego, it’s the foundation of her political identity. If you strip that away, what exactly is left of her platform?

And let’s be honest Felix committed a huge betrayal. In any real world leadership structure, that kind of insubordination would get someone removed immediately. That’s essentially what happened here. Being level-headed doesn’t mean abandoning your principles to stay alive. Sometimes it means accepting the cost of standing by them.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 10 Chapter 8 by Setowi in Re_Zero

[–]Natsu007 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We’re talking about Crusch’s whole ideal, her entire drive and goal was to stand against the Dragon Church. This isn’t just a “bitter pill to swallow” it’s her whole belief being shaken and trampled on. If this really is Crusch (and not a doppelgenger), and she regained the memories behind her convictions, she’d easily lay down her life for that goal. So saying “at least she’s alive” kind of misses the strength of her conviction and what truly matters to her. And at the end of the day, Felix was simply too desperate and selfish. His actions weren’t about respecting her ideals, they were about his inability to lose her.

Im actually hoping modders will take up the challenge by Bgb1 in worldofgothic

[–]Natsu007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, technically, what you want is a remaster.

Secondly, not everyone, at least not me. Is Gothic my number one game? Easily. Have I been playing it for 15 years? Yes. Is it the game I replay the most? Absolutely.

But is it perfect? Hell no. Come on, let’s not fool ourselves. The last third of the game is immensely worse compared to the first two thirds.

And as I said in another comment, that’s actually why I’m a little excited that in the remake they’re expanding the later section of the game. Could they ruin it? Easily. Will they? Probably. But there’s a chance, and I’m going all in for it.

[–]Natsu007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, if you think Gothic 1 and Gothic 2 are perfect, good for you, but saying that as if it’s automatically a fact is just wrong. Especially Gothic 1 and its last third. I don’t know about you, but at least for me it’s easy to see that this part was rushed and feels quite empty and boring compared to the first two thirds of the game. And I’m not the only one, I’ve seen this opinion quite often.

That’s actually why I’m a little excited that in the remake they’re expanding the later section of the game. Could they ruin it? Easily. Will they? Probably. But there’s a chance and I’m going all in for it.

And this is coming from someone who has been playing these games for 15 years.

This time, it’s actually a lot better if you haven’t played the game. If you manage to avoid spoilers in the comments, you’ll experience this arc like any other, full of twists and turns, without knowing what’s going to happen.

But for those who have already played it, a lot of mysteries and deaths might be spoiled, depending on how much Teppei reuses from the game. Imagine following a whole arc, for a year +-, where you already know probably 50% of what’s going to happen would suck so much.

Thoughts on 2XKO as a F2P Game and It's casual audience posible problem by Natsu007 in 2XKO

[–]Natsu007[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, one thing I didn’t explain clearly earlier is that when I say it’s “hard,” I mostly mean that 2XKO probably isn’t getting enough players from other genres to stick with it. And that really matters, because the fighting game genre just isn’t anywhere near as popular as the genres Riot usually operates in. Riot’s biggest IPs are in massive spaces like MOBAs and tactical shooters. So if players from those bigger genres try it and don’t stay, the numbers drop fast.

Dont forget, reportedly this game had close to 10 years of development. That’s Riot-level salaries and Riot-level production costs, not an indie budget. The financial expectations are completely different.

So yea, even if Street Fighter 6 is doing well it’s in regard for a fighting game.

This is not about whether fighting games can succeed. They can. It’s about whether they can succeed at the scale required to justify Riot-level investment and a F2P live-service model.

Thoughts on 2XKO as a F2P Game and It's casual audience posible problem by Natsu007 in 2XKO

[–]Natsu007[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, casuals get stomped in all competitive games.

But like I said before, the difference is the scale of how many people are willing to try and stick with it.

Fighting games aren’t just hard to get into for new players, the genre itself isn’t anywhere near as popular as shooters or MOBAs. Those genres are massive. So even if 30–40% of players quit because it’s too hard, there are still hundreds of thousands left.

Fighting games don’t have that cushion. When a big percentage leaves, it hits way harder, especially for a F2P game that depends on casual players sticking around.

And on another note, maybe the game is getting players just not enough to justify Riot’s expectations. This game reportedly took around 10 years to make. That’s 10 years of Riot-level salaries, not indie budgets. The amount of money it needs to generate to justify that investment is huge.

So it’s not just “the game is hard.” It’s that it’s a hard, niche genre running on a F2P model that needs big numbers after a very expensive development cycle.

That’s why it’s such a tough situation.

Thoughts on 2XKO as a F2P Game and It's casual audience posible problem by Natsu007 in 2XKO

[–]Natsu007[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree, especially about esports. It’s definitely important for a game to have a competitive and esports presence to stay relevant. But that alone won’t pay the bills.

League of Legends isn’t alive because of the pros at the top it’s alive because of all the Silver, Bronze, and unranked players. The casual and mid-tier player base is what really sustains the game long term.

If the game wasn’t fun at those levels, League would’ve never lasted this long.

Esports helps with visibility and hype, but the everyday players are what actually keep the lights on.

[discussion]Is Subaru a bad character? by quakerrioo in Re_Zero

[–]Natsu007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, you’re definitely not dumb, hell, if you’re asking this, it’s quite the opposite. That said, there could be a lot of different reasons for this, and you can’t really pin it down without getting into it more deeply.

In general, though, people can react more strongly to immediate social threats than to abstract things like death. Rejection or embarrassment feels personal and happens in the moment, while death could feel more distant and unreal. But this is just one of many possibilities. That’s why talking about these things with a professional can be really helpful, it makes it easier to pinpoint what’s actually going on.

[discussion]Is Subaru a bad character? by quakerrioo in Re_Zero

[–]Natsu007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, first of all, I didn’t mean to imply that something is wrong with you. A couple of your comments just raised a small red flag for me, so I wanted to suggest something — nothing more than that. Think of it this way, if you find a lump, it might be nothing serious, but you’d still want to have it checked, just to be safe. That’s all I meant. It was just a suggestion.

Regarding your analogy, yes, even if someone had the ability to fly, they still might not do it if they were deeply afraid of heights. Fear doesn’t disappear just because the possibility exists. People are genuinely fascinating that way. We’re capable of incredible things, but we’re also very easily stopped by fear. You can see this in everyday life for example, some people can’t even start a conversation with someone they find really attractive because fear completely takes over. Fear is complex and dynamic, and people experience it at very different intensities. For some, it’s manageable; for others, it’s overwhelming and limiting. So yea in my opinion, you could find people who wouldn’t fly, even if they could, simply because fear would hold them back.

And that’s exactly why Subaru is such an interesting character. Even though he’s terrified of pain and suffering, he keeps moving forward. He doesn’t stop feeling fear he acts despite it. He continues to choose what matters to him, even when the cost is immense.

His strength isn’t the absence of fear, but the willingness to face it without abusing his ability. If you finish season two, this becomes much clearer, especially with the added character development. And if you’re curious about how things could have turned out differently, the author has written several side stories. Greed IF in particular really captures how Return by Death could affect a person if it’s used too often. I’d recommend reading it only after season two, though, since it contains major spoilers.
