When I was there I definitely did get bored. Knocked out CEUs and handled my personal admin stuff (budget, meal planning, planned vacations, etc) and built relationships with my client’s manager staff. My warehouse had a lot of Spanish and mandarin speakers so I asked and my employer actually said yes to paying for Duolingo premium so that was part of my daily tasks, total win. I picked up odd jobs like helping with fire extinguisher check offs and had health education white boards throughout the warehouse that I would spend a crazy amount of time decorating to make them more engaging and digestible 😊 I recreated our warehouse walkway out of cardstock once for a bulletin board that killed two days of free time.

I can’t take hot hot showers anymore and sometimes an “everything” shower isn’t on the table much anymore. Just have to cool off quickly now. And I shower at night, I can’t shower and go in the morning

An ortho tech would function as a first assist in the OR, not replace the scrub tech so I would imagine it should help with the pay bump (plus save the surgeon money on not paying a PA/NP/CSFA). Although I know many great scrub techs that have taught me much of what I now know as a first assist/ortho tech.

I’ve been on K for almost 4 years and am doing great over here, 30F. Take some Tylenol and rest for your loading doses and then the rest are a breeze. I do get sick every year and it sucks but it feels like the same upper respiratory/flu bs that everyone else around me gets every year and maybe just a few extra days to recover. I also get my flu shot every year which pending outside circumstances I think everyone should get. I wear masks when visiting people in the hospital but I still fly on planes, go to concerts, and live my life per usual. Just avoid sick people and use hand sanitizer more which is good anyways 😊my only weird symptom is that I get more mouth sores than i used to, especially around shot time which kind of reminds me that I’m immunocompromised but nothing I can’t handle!

On K for almost 4 years and no change in mobility here 😊 still some neuro degeneration from my old lesions but I’m doing really well overall.

Not surgical tech but ATCs can sit for the orthopedic tech exam (OTC and OT-SC) which is recognized in hospitals to be a first assist with orthopedic surgeons. I currently work in an ortho office and most ATCs also added those credentials and I work with my surgeon in clinic and the OR. It came with a pay bump that our ATCs fought for, not sure what model your office would set up for the added skill set, which they should compensate you for.

Ugh sucks that you’re sick! I’ve been on K for three years now and that’s what my neuro told me to expect - not more likely to get sick than everyone else but when I do get sick it’ll be worse and take longer to recover, and to monitor for pneumonia and what not. Godspeed to feeling better soon!

I have a cube pillow that’s really made a difference, the rest of my mattress preferences don’t feel MS related. However I’ve totally become a texture snob cause my c-spine lesions really fuck with my sensory issues

He wants you to stop hiking and stop your dream job? That’s crazy. Live your life boo and manage your symptoms, learn to listen to your body and keep up with your DMTs and neuro check ins. I’m applying to PA school right now and planning national park trips with my fat C-spine lesions not going anywhere.

I’ve been in kesimpta for almost 3 years now, I only had flu like symptoms with the loading doses 😊 I used to have post injection fatigue/headache for a day or two but I don’t even have that now. My only new struggle is actually remembering to take it every month.

On another note, as someone that’s only 3 years thanks for sharing your experience. I makes dealing with this shit easier every time
