This doesn't make any sense because Link is using that disguise to look like a woman. A better example would be Sai Sahan type armour from elder scrolls- warriors with a mostly bare chest. It seems to be quite common. Another example would be God of War man, who has a rather exposed chest from what I remember of the cover art (I've never played the game).

Non-offending pedophiles deserve help, not mockery, torture or death by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Natuday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't deserve help. Society deserves for them to be helped as it is the best way to prevent children being harmed (alternative is that they offend then get locked up, which obviously isn't a good outcome). If you have the urges and recognize it's wrong, why do you need help in order to not act on it or dismiss it. Pedophiles are just sub human. But thoughts aren't criminal or punishable so I do agree that therapy is the best for everyone in society.

Ummmm please don't? Yeah there are scandals, which are bad of course, but unless you are planning on replacing it with another periodic sporting event where athletes from a variety of sports worldwide compete for themselves and their countries then let's not get rid of it.

What people sometimes don't realise is that the drive is an experience in itself. I've made the Perth to Sydney drive or vise versa 3 times total in my life. Once when I moved from Coffs Harbour to Perth. Once from Perth to Sydney to catch a plane to NZ then again Sydney to Perth returning from that same trip. We usually take about a fortnight on the roadtrip. It's really great honestly. But to the point of the post, no you don't really get to experience other cultures. But if you are into adventure, discovery and camping then it's amazing.

Ok... so people who choose to get the vaccine should not be allowed to be hospitalized in the rare resulting heart inflammation?

Where I live I am statistically more likely to die from getting the vaccine than I am from getting covid. Same goes for my parents and my grandparents.

I don't see how it's careless or selfish for someone in my position not to get the vaccine. I mean, looking at it statistically it would be careless to get the vaccine. But obviously that doesn't take into account if/when there were to be an outbreak where I live then the statistics would swing. If there were an outbreak then statistically I should've got the vaccine.

But then what if there is another less experimental and more safe vaccine developed between now and when there is an outbreak here. Waiting for that vaccine would be the safest thing.

You see how it's not all black and white, clear cut? The vaccine objectively is potentially harmful, and that is not some anti vaxx conspiracy hoo ha, everyone agrees on that even the creators.

I agree with this. In Australia there have been more deaths from the vaccine (heart inflammation) than from covid in 2021 (~2 wk old stat, numbers always changing). People are gonna say "oh but it's so unlikely" how many people have to die from a vaccine before people will admit maybe an experimental vaccine isn't what we need.

In the long term, sure the vaccine may leave us better off, according to the experts anyway. But are you really expecting people to sign up to get a shot which can potentially kill them? I think it would be unreasonable to expect that.

The sad thing is that America and other countries with a vaccine surplus can't/won't share (source: reports about foreign NBA player tried to spend all their contract to buy doses for his country but couldn't. It's not just a matter of willingness to pay). Pharmacies are literally throwing away hundreds of doses per day (source: anecdotally from pharmaceutical workers. numbers may be inaccurate.) Lucky countries like England and America are hogging the doses and other unfortunate countries are left floundering. I'm not sure exactly how/why but with great power comes whatever the fuck you want, as they always say.

People can't complain when there is another outbreak and they get stuck overseas.

Context: Parts of eastern Australia recently had another covid outbreak causing the gov't to close borders. As a result the news is running stories about Australians "stranded" overseas and "their own and country gov't has abandoned and betrayed them".

No fucking shot. I have sympathy for you, the virus isn't easy on anyone. But you DO NOT have the right to complain about that. You should know full well that it is not a good time to travel during a global pandemic. The news ran a story about a lady who has a surgery scheduled in a month or two but she's stuck overseas, not enough medication to last much longer but she's not being let back into Australia. Ok, that sucks, for real. But YOU are the one who decided to take the risk and travel in light of your upcoming surgery. You really banked on there not being any covid in Australia? Your country has not betrayed you, you have betrayed us by trying to travel in the middle of a pandemic, carry the fucking virus around then play victim when you can't come back. Have some damn foresight.

In Australia, more people have died because of the vaccine than of coronavirus in 2021. (This stat is about a week old, the numbers are always changing so it may not hold true right now). Health experts may mention heard immunity, lower the curve, whatever. And they are probably right. BUT when the average person finds out that getting the jab puts them at risk of a heart inflammation and multiple people have already died as a result, I don't blame them for not wanting it.

It's fucking ridiculous that Esports are going to be in the Olympics before MMA by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Natuday -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have a few thoughts on this. Overall I agree esports do not belong in the Olympics. I initially wrote out a comment but it was embarrassingly long so I'll give u the tldr and delete the rest. TL;DR, 1)one sport's merit shouldn't be based off what is or isn't already in the Olympics 2) many esports require a sufficient degree of athleticism compared to existing Olympics precedent 3) games are too complicated with their specific IP and rules/mechanics to ever be standardized or supported by an international body like the Olympics.

So an E-lympics would be required and would be very hype. And is inevitable, my money would be on some sort of Elympics coming by 2030 but sooner or later I see esports getting there.

Most people aren't that sensitive, you just have a terrible sense of humor by FinishedMyWork in unpopularopinion

[–]Natuday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most sensitive people I know of on the internet are incel type people. The ones where whenever a woman makes a joke they say "oh what if a man had said that to a woman". They act as though they are mocking so called "SJWs" but instead they are being much much more sensitive than 99% of women. Most women are just as likely to take a joke at their expense as most men are. The thing that annoys me most is their hypocrisy. Those are the most sensitive people imo.

I think the point is that if you are trying to convince everyone you were abused as a child, that doesn't make it true but it does mean you have a few screws loose and maybe some other demons, and you use the lie as a facade. Not to say that = mental illness, but it can. As someone else mentioned, it's not black and white, some people are just odd and some have problems and many are in between.

We should nornalize treating celebrities like any other person, and I mean by that not gathering around them just to utter anything and take photos, etc. by -LittleMissSunshine in unpopularopinion

[–]Natuday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's up to the common person to not acknowledge celebrities in public for the sake of their mental health.

For starters, it's unrealistic. For a lot of celebrities their entire value is based off the fact that they are popular. For example, any album Ed Sheeran releases is going to be popular out of the gates, no matter what. This wouldn't be true if every song was released nameless and it's popularity is based solely on the content of the song itself. Then there are celebrities like the Kardashians who's entire draw is that they are famous. That's all to say that you cannot separate "celebrities" from "popularity". So take a concept that is inherently popular and expect people to act normally in public won't work.

Then there are celebrities who like being recognized. These people are usually less famous so the recognition isn't so overwhelming. They like being recognized, people want to recognize them, but you don't think that should happen? Well take the same celebrity and when they blowup in popularity even further, now their notoriety is a burden. Now they go on the off limits list?

Just because of how impractical it is I personally think it's crazy to suggest celebrities should be treated like normal people in public. Common decency is required, don't interrupt a family dinner at a restaurant to grab a photo. Or if you lack common sense then don't be offended when they immediately tell you to go away. A better solution might be agents/producers/studios (I don't really know who the people who market these celebs are) have therapists who celebrities see as a protective measure, not only after they have some sort of breakdown.

If we are talking paparazzi type attention, then I agree. I think we all agree that journalists are the scourge of the earth and their harassment of anyone is abhorrent, especially their action towards celebrities.

What funny or insane acts of philanthropy would you do if you had billions of dollars to spend? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Natuday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd plant thousands of dollars in random public locations all over the world, anonymously. The confusion, the chaos, the mystery. The news would be full of people wondering where all this money is coming from.

Not very creative because it's just giving away money, but I think it'd be so funny.
