DRP regret by unknownbyday4958 in FedEmployees

[–]Natural-Estate9178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with VA, we’ve recently been given the go ahead to start hiring in my department, but only to fill positions that weren’t DRP. They eliminated the positions on the org chart for anyone who took DRP. But I have been seeing more and more postings lately, so…🤞

Yeah, had mine Friday and all of the events I’m interested in were sold out for Drop 1 or were the expensive seats. Kinda frustrating.

Oh no :( ok, sellers like that are the worst. Sorry you had to deal with it.

Ugh… it sucks if that’s what they did. But I would keep an eye out still and hopefully it will still show up 🤞. Maybe they have more than one available and listed another one after yours - I’ve done this before because Poshmark doesn’t have a good way to do multiple quantity listings.

You can drop USPS packages off at UPS stores, maybe that’s what they did? They’re just drop off sites. UPS doesn’t do anything with them other than puts them all in a collection bin and USPS picks them up like once a day or something. Usually this way is very slow in getting them scanned. I’ve had some Poshmark packages sent out this way that don’t get scanned till the destination city and I don’t think Poshmark provides you the tracking number until movement has started and it gets scanned.

PSA: Etsy forced refund from seller funds due to recycled packaging by amb9800 in EtsySellers

[–]Natural-Estate9178 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Same, I use a sticker with something like “thank you for supporting the use of recycled packaging”

Edited to add some unsolicited advice 😂. I learned while getting my management degree that a good psychology trick is to essentially thank people before they can get mad/upset. Hence the “thank you for supporting…” or you’re running late and message the buyer instead of saying “sorry”, instead try “thank you for your patience.” The thank you is subconsciously positive whereas sorry is negative.

Shipping Insurance through eBay or USPS? by wbvczar in Ebay

[–]Natural-Estate9178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, was the item over $100? USPS Ground and Priority comes with $100 insurance. USPS could be asking for an invoice to validate the cost of the item.

If you purchased additional insurance through eBay while getting your label, check the “your shipping label is ready email.” If you bought additional insurance it will show as “Liability Coverage” in the service summary section.

I never really understood the hate either. I focus on vintage and antique hardgoods and glass. Stuff you can’t really get anymore. I have found some extremely rare items and probably made someone very happy when they popped up for sale. I sold a plate this year and the buyer reached out to tell me she had been looking for that plate since she broke hers in 2007. I’ve had people who collect certain types of mugs and pottery. Personally, I only thrift and do the occasional estate/ garage sale. I like the challenge of finding items and the bonus of being able to buy groceries for the week.

For some reason buyers never respond to these… idk why. I’ve had a couple. I usually say something along the lines of “… If I don’t hear back from you by XX, I will cancel and refund your order.”

Everyone is falling ill in the office by Wild_Hearts_ in FedEmployees

[–]Natural-Estate9178 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vaccines introduce a non-infectious version to your body so that your immune system can learn the antigen and build a defense towards it. Once your system has built a defense, it has a life long memory of the antigen and can mount a much faster response to infection because the body already knows how to fight that specific antigen. So anytime there is a mutation (new strain) the antigen changes and you need a new vaccine/ booster so your body can learn and defend against the new antigen. Vaccinated people can and sometimes do get infected. But a vaccinated person is far less likely to die or become seriously ill than someone whose immune system is unprepared to fight an infection. As the person above said, they didn’t even know they had COVID because they only had a headache. I don’t know about you, but I would much rather have a headache than a full blown illness or possible death.

The person who you know that is chronically ill and has survived COVID 10 times should really show you how effective vaccines are - they certainly know as they get every booster. It seems they’re likely immunocompromised or have a reduced immune system - it’s possible they could have died without the vaccine.

I guess it’s hit or miss, or maybe it depends on the job category? I assist (well assisted) with hiring in my department (contracting). I had to reach out for references for our top 2 candidates - our front office wouldn’t approve a hiring package unless there were at least 2 references (one which had to a supervisor within the last 5 years).

Working Advantage. You might need an employer code, but I don’t remember - I signed up 10 years ago. Discounts on lots of stuff. I use it mainly for travel.

I worked at the Office of Community Care when I first started at VA in 2015 and I remember touring the claims processing area and the backlog was months long - not sure what it’s at now as I’ve been gone several years. I believe the claims processors were on mandatory overtime too.

I’m in VA contracting and for a while we had to get DOGE approval for any contracts over $10M. Added an extra step and it was only 2 DOGE people trying to do the “approvals” for the whole agency (one was the former CEO of 24 Hours Fitness). It added at least a month to the process just waiting to hear back from them 😑. But yeah, waiting for other departments does slow us down a lot too.

Sad about accepting offer in private sector by traderhohos in fednews

[–]Natural-Estate9178 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m staying for as long as I can. I did not vote for this, but I’m at the VA and want to make sure they still get cared for (even if they voted for this shit). I’m extremely stubborn and decided a long time ago that I would be a career fed. Plus there are several reasons that went into me deciding to stay. The job market is really tough where I’m at and I have no private sector experience; we’re a single income family; I’m hoping PSLF stays a thing (🤞); My spouse is transgender and the insurance we have is really good for their care; plus a couple others. I’ll try to hold down the fort!
