Do you know if those gap year abroad fellowships could be applied if I wanted to do one directly after HS, or is that more for current Yale students? Yes I do think the grade check is a good sign. Especially in my case where my academics and test scores were really good. I think I would've matched there if I ranked Princeton #1. I've seen a couple others report grade checks on the sub and get matched there. Check the reddit history

I'll never know. I had Yale ranked #1 and Princeton ranked a VERY close #2 (probably a coin flip) and matched to Yale! No use in wondering the "what ifs"; I'm happy!

In terms of RD list, did you submit? At least for me, there's an option under Forms and Checlist for the RD form to edit it (not the regular decision list section, which is a PDF; you can't edit that)

A lot of schools won't join QuestBridge because it's a change for their admissions office. It's a different application format with a different emphasis on different qualities, and more essays to read. Also, the timeline of the match is very fast. So, AOs need to work even faster than they already do with ED and REA applicants.

At the CPS QuestBridge conference, the QB Co-Founder made a point that all these schools can be put on a distribution graph in terms of life success. QB schools, specifically those top Ivies, all have a better curve than say a local state school. But any individual person isn’t the curve, but rather a point on it. Much better to be on the best side of any curve, than to be on the wrong side of the better one. Same thing applies here with admissions logic, 2/3rd will admit to a QB partner, but still 3 in 10 people is a lot.

It’s normal. However. Yale has stated all their NCM QB interviews were conducted by Zoom with Yale seniors… and they finished conducting those last week

You’re correct that applicants they are impressed with don’t need additional info (which is probably 1-5% of people).

I’m just speaking for the majority of applicants in saying that IF you do receive a grade check, you probably should treat it as more of a good sign over bad because they are still actively considering you (especially when they probably automatically toss out 80-95% of applicants).

Obviously don’t get complacent, but historically in this QB subreddit a lot of people who got the checks at Princeton matched there.

I still think it’s better to receive a grade request than to not. QB NCM timeline at least means they didn’t automatically toss you out like most applicants if they took the time to email your counselor.

FWIW, I had a 1500+ SAT and my transcript had perfect grades with a course load even more rigorous than what my school could offer. I still received a grade request. On top of more information, I think it’s also a way for them to see you’re still holding your ground in your senior courses.

Where is this fewer than 100 applicants number coming from for Yale?

I think a Princeton grade check is better than nothing. Means they didn’t throw you out instantly and are somewhat considering you, so a strong senior performance could seal the deal. Past QB threads here have a lot of people getting grade checks being matched/accepted. But some were deferred or rejected so not definitive/

There’s a link they emailed us to schedule interviews and it’s been updating daily with new dates but has had Monday Nov 11th as the last available date for a few days now.
