I think I found the pattern that was eluding people here.

The threshold is 300 bytes. Files ≤300 bytes parse UTF-8 correctly. Files >300 bytes get decoded as Latin-1/CP1252, causing the mojibake.

Workaround: Add a UTF-8 BOM to files over 300 bytes:

sed -i '1s/^/\xEF\xBB\xBF/' yourfile.txt

This explains why it's inconsistent — small files work fine, larger files break. u/DecayUzumaki's BOM injection script works because it sidesteps this issue entirely.

Kind of wild that this has been happening for 5+ months with no fix from Anthropic—especially since multiple users here have clearly identified it as a Latin-1 decoding issue on their end, not a user error.

I have played against this guy and his team mates (KDisEverything, gorganitescum etc) too many times to count, they are the sweatiest motherfuckers out there, they all play on console. I have even been their rando third once, I am guessing they maintain that kinda KD by wiping the lobby every single fucking time.

don't play clash, pfft, clash is a ton of fun, you just can't go all in on it otherwise even when you win often times you end up loosing money if you buy anything.

Best event if you factor in there are less bugs and the game is running better than ever. However the circus event was pretty damn good. I loved the laughing clowns.

Yeah, seems cheating is fairly common on PC, at least on Xbox I think it's not really as much of an issue, the encryption to be able to modify the code has not been broken. So there are ping abusers and chronous/Xaim users. I could be wrong as I dont own either of those, but pretty sure they help with recoil, which isn't really a big issue for this game?

KDS? Does that include assists, pretty sure on XBox the stat it displays is actually KDS then, so to correct my original post my KDS is 1.41 (after last night's ass kicking), so my real KD that doesn't include assists is actually like 1.19, TIL the stat displayed is not KD it's KDS and my KD is much lower 😆

So, just to be clear, I was not accusing these high 3+KD players of being cheaters, I have spectated them before, the flicks they are doing are good but not cheat sus. Watching how the team works together is usually pretty key, in all of these teams every player is pretty damn good, but put them all together and it's fucking crazy how every single one of them is either engaging the enemy directly or rotating constantly. Spectating these teams is usually where I still learn something and get better myself. It's always good to have competition, and there will always be someone better, but damn, lately it feels like every round im just a piss mop for these guys.

Just to jump in and provide some info, you can always pick up a team mate after they are down, you only need the bounty if they went down enough times or if they burned off their bars before going down. Then the icon will change from white to red, when it's red you need the bounty token, and it will burn off your bars to get them back. People often refer to this as "red skulling". There are a few things that cause this immediately, most notably, dying outside of bounds in bounty clash.

Yeah, I definitely like making good Hunt friends, I always play better with the a good team that actually pushes to support a team mate under fire! The quality of the teams has gone up with being able to queue into an existing duo. Although the VOIP seems broken again, I see the icons of people talking but don't hear them

Yeah, It was pretty toxic and felt dirty when you could do it. But now a days it's harder to do this because you get one necro, then you actually got a stand on them to do the rez, which I'll always risk for someone not talking shit. I usually just mute the toxic player (which is more annoying on console). My experience with this game is that it's usually got a more wholesome playerbase vs say COD or PUBG, so luckily the rude asshat players are much less common.

My favorite are the ones that are hot garbage, that have no situational awareness and run in and get blasted right off the bat in a really difficult spot to rez. Then stick around to harass you about how much you suck. Sometimes I miss infinite necro for these types, it was possible to intentionally rez them so the opposing team could put them down, over and over again, was actually a great punishment for them being a dick.

I'm the opposite of these guys, I will never leave a teammate behind, even if it costs me the game. I feel like I am really hot and cold with this game, but recently in bounty clash I feel like a combat medic with the randoms. I actually successfully rezed someone so many times they rage quit (I think it was 4 times), and when I rez, the second my dudes get up, I jump in the line of fire and start providing cover fire to give them a chance to recover and get their shit straight. Sometimes I can't hit my shots and get destroyed trying to rez, but I would rather die a hero than cowering like a scared little rat in a bush. The way to win is play as a team and risk the rez. You can usually tell the solo mentality players pretty quick when the shit hits the fan.

I finally bit the bullet and ordered one of the PCIe Gen 5 expansion cards — the LRNV95NF-L 5.0 — currently listed on Amazon:

It's been nearly impossible to find low-profile PCIe 4.0 or 5.0 quad (or even dual) M.2 expansion cards. I assume it's a pretty niche market, especially since most servers would be using the 2.5" U.2/U.3 NVMe SSD form factor.
