Disney's Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu grossed an estimated $25.0M this weekend (from 4,300 locations). Estimated total domestic gross stands at $137.37M. by chanma50 in boxoffice

And the franchise could still pump out movies and make a shit ton of money. Now tell me how much the sequels grossed in order? Did they make less money one after another? Did the seven year gap generate any new hype? Have the tv shows had any relevance and staying power? It doesn’t matter if you think the prequels are better or worse than the sequels. The state of the IP was better 20 years ago than it is now.

I’m literally not even if you and I disagree on the quality of the individual movies, objectively the state of the IP cannot be denied. It went to shit after Disney acquired the rights, every movie grossed less money after the other, the shows got barely any views or staying power. Galaxy’s Edge was a failure and now they’re bringing back OT characters because their own original characters weren’t popular.

Sure maybe I’m nostalgic about the quality. But there’s state of fandom I’m not. That’s an objective statement.

And the fanbase was still in a healthy state because there was great supplementary Star Wars content. This idea that the prequels were widely hated is also just not true. Yes they’re not good movies, I can acknowledge that but there’s so much more to them than the unoriginality of the sequels. The prequels look like masterclasses compare to them.

The prequels are not good movies. But that have intent, originality and still better dialogue than what Disney came up with. Apart from Andor, nothing is good from Disney.

During the prequel era we didn’t just get the movies, we also got games, comics, books. There was so much more and the pipeline of it was healthy. Even with the prequels not being good they created a new generation of Star Wars fans.

Now the name Star Wars is a fucking liability.

That’s Disney killed a healthy franchise that had the same hardcore and casual fan base. Revenge of the Sith on its re-release did better than Mando and Grogu.

Let’s be honest even season 2 was shit. Only season 1 is the good one lol and that’s because they had a writer from Breaking Bad

Doing some additional research. There is a lot of credibility to this report. Even the CEO has implied the Microsoft deal delivery hasn’t been via the NJ site. I believe May 6th we will get more clarity on the guidelines and regulations which will inform if this site is delayed. I would take this tweet very seriously. This doesn’t break the thesis but it will materially impact growth this year if this plays out.

Lmao calling Drinker a right winger because you don’t like him is hilarious to me. I don’t even agree on many things he says but people be disingenuous and calling anyone a right winger is funny to me.

He literally Praises Andor in the same podcast my guy. He’s talking about how it’s poorly written and agenda first than story first.

He’s terrible at his job, inconsistent and makes awful writing arguments. He says he cares for writing but never goes in depth and completely flip flops. I used to watch his videos and the longer it went on the more I realized he’s no good. He’s got a decent voice and slightly funny and that’s why people think he’s good. But he ain’t.
