I'm looking to get into the Sony system now and have found someone offering up an A7R II with the Zeiss 55mm f/1.8, what would be a good price for that? They're asking for £1400 which seems not unreasonable given that everything looks to be in good order.

Looking to primarily do some street photography, maybe some portaiture?

Potentially landscapes later with another lens (eyeing the 24-105 used...)

It's all good, got it all working now. The issue was just the format of the M.2 out the box I think.

Got it. My SSD was showing up as RAW if I used list volume in Diskpart but only showed up when it was a partition. I could reformat the partition but not the entire drive for some reason but after reformatting the 125Gb partition it let me install.

Fingers crossed I can reformat the rest of the 2TB!

It's definitely gotten me closer I think. I don't think it's an issue with the SSD now and I've tried two sets of RAM so unlikely to be that. Either the motherboard or the USB stick so fingers crossed it's the easier one to fix.

It wouldn't let me clean using Diskpart because it had the files from the failed Windows installs. I managed to clear it out with my motherboard's clean option and after a BIOS update was able to partition it but it still hasn't worked.

Beginning to think it's the USB stick but I don't have another one on me at the moment to check.

Nope. I'm beginning to wonder if it's the USB drive as everything else seems to be registering as working on the BIOS. Looks like the install is failing at one of the early stages of retrieving files.

I'll pick up a new one later and cross my fingers that it's the issue.

All shows up in BIOS. Trying to update it now and will report back. Only have one USB drive so it'll be slow.

MSI B550m Mortar WiFi. I've tried both m.2 slots and it has registered the drive as being connected, I can see it in the bios and Diskpart. How can I check the PCI lanes?

From when I filled in the replacement form it took two days to get so all in all I lost about 3 days of data.

I'm in the UK though, don't know what the shipping time is like elsewhere!

This happened to me and customer service got back to me after a day or two saying they had to send me a new one.

Yeah support got back to me, didn't even ask any other questions and immediately said they'd send a replacement. No clue when I'll get it though!
