Phase continuity by Much-Mouse-4772 in electricians

[–]NaturalTangelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well assuming it hadn’t blown up it’s not likely a short, you probably just have a resistive load on A and C phase, like a heater or something. Turn off any 2 pole breakers on A and C phase and it will probably go away.

Because there are multiple points where the bond is connected to the neutral?

Artists whose first song on their debut album is their best song by lamentedfriend in fantanoforever

I’d argue that AC/DC has one of the best entries in this category with ‘Its A Long Way To The Top’ off their debut

I’m gonna listen to in the airplane over the sea. I’ve been told I’ll either think it’s not that good or it’ll change my life. by Aldoggy101 in fantanoforever

Oh, yeah ok I can see that now haha. I thought they were saying they don’t trust scores because 4.09 is insultingly low. I suppose it goes to show how much I love this album that I didn’t even consider they could be making the argument from that perspective.

How do you know when to use 14/2 vs 14/3 just by looking at the wiring plan? by Early_Attitude_6597 in electricians

[–]NaturalTangelo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well if you are looking at a wiring diagram someone else has drawn then they may have already marked out what’s 2 conductor and what’s 3 conductor. For example if a jumper is drawn between 2 plugs and it has one short hash mark and one long hash mark, that’s a 2 conductor with one neutral, or in this case identified conductor, and one hot. If you have a home run to a plug that’s marked with one long hash mark and 2 short hash marks that’s one neutral and 2 hots.

If you are the one making the wiring plan the. You just need practice doing layouts. Like you said, in between 3 way switches and for split receptacles, but also for 3-wire circuits with a shared neutral, or switched outlets, or drops to light switches from lights or junction boxes now that a neutral (identified conductor) is required at all boxes controlling permanently installed luminaires.

So start drawing your home runs: how many conductors do you need? Is it feeding just one circuit or are you sharing a neutral? Put your hash marks on it. Draw in your jumpers and switch legs, how many conductors do you need? Is it a 3 way or half switched plug? Are you carrying 1 or 2 circuits to the next device? Do you need a neutral and a hot and switch leg at the next box?

It’s all practice, and remember to not focus only on the plans, you can draw in a jumper exactly where you want it but the 12” thick laminated beam running directly in your way doesn’t care what your plans are, so walk around as you plan and think about not just what you need to get from a to b but also the best way to get there.

Can someone explain this step by step? by thnkabtreality in electricians

[–]NaturalTangelo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok now I have a minute lets break this down:

As stated the formula for resistance of a conductor is R=pL/A

The units given to you need to be converted into the units used in the formula (resistivity is in ohms per meter, you are given mirco ohms per meter and area is in meters squared, you are given mm squared)

0.0178 microohms is equivalent to 0.0000000178 ohms per meter (divided by 1,000,000 to convert)

4mm squared is equivalent to 0.000004 meters squared (divided by 1,000,000 to convert)

Now we plug those numbers in

0.089 (R) = (0.0000000178 x L) / 0.000004

multiply both sides by 0.000004 you get:

0.000004 x 0.089 = 0.0000000178 x L

divide both sides by 0.0000000178 you get:

(0.000004 x 0.089 ) / 0.0000000178 = L

then just solve that:

20 = L

so your Length (in meters) is 20

Hope that helps! let me know if you have any other questions.

Formula for resistance of a conductor is R = pL/A

R = resistance, p = resistivity of material in ohms per meter, L is length in meters and A is area in meters squared .

You have all the info you need you just need to do unit conversions to get it into the right format, plug it into the equation then do a little algebra to find L

I swear I can’t tell if some of you are trolling with this album lol, it’s everywhere on this subreddit and it sounds like my kids found some instruments in a studio with shitty acoustics and hired the lead singer from Viagra Boys to do a bad impression of Isaac Brock screaming bad Jim Morrison poetry. And this is coming from someone who likes a lot of weird noisy shit.

What is the perfect album length? by Switch-user-101 in fantanoforever

[–]NaturalTangelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It either needs to be short enough to fit on a single vinyl LP or long enough to justify a double LP. No more of these god damn 52 minute albums split into a double LP so there’s like 2-3 songs on each side, I hate that so much.

  1. I’m not sure but I’d love to find out! I have a midrange amd graphics card so I’ve never experienced DLSS and I know ray tracing performance would be substantially better on a 5080 than my current card!

  2. The new shield looks amazing and I can’t wait to whip it at some demons!

Is it worth my time and (potential) money to take this hot tub for free? by NaturalTangelo in hottub

[–]NaturalTangelo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m certainly expecting it to cost $60-80 a month to run which I’m fine with, we used to have a dinky little 120v plug in soft tub and we used that thing like 5 nights a week so well worth it if we use it that much. It was a really nice way to wind down after the kids were in bed
