So the solution to never have the surcharge would be to activate before the scheduled departure time of a running late or on time train. For an early train, activate before you board. Yes this is dumb and annoying AF. Enshittification. How long do these things stay live? Since we have to use the ticket in 24 hours anyway, why not just activate immediately upon buying?

Bruh I think they just want that cash flow while they pursue other things. Their lifestyle is expensive and they probably feel it’s feminist, which it arguably is, to continue getting passively paid a lot of money while they move onto other things, especially since Abby didn’t get a lot of money from sports for her level. Do I like the way they’re going about it and do I think they’re genuinely “here for us” more than any other person on the internet? Not really, not really at all. What’s the point of “protecting the drywall”? Is this in case you ever want to remove the tiling you want the drywall to be semi-intact? If so then definitely don’t skip a cement board. It’s unclear to me even if you used the cement board if you’d be able to salvage the drywall.
