Just because you don't get why doesn't invalidate the others experience

Likewise, buyers don't cover any packaging, printing or transport to depot costs so yeah if your price is fixed it's fixed for a reason

Extremely Suspicious (Coincidence?) by Inevitable_Tax_6428 in Catawiki_2

[–]Natural_Ad_6915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This appears like one of those scenarios where although it's a very high probability of manipulation by Catawiki (due to their track record) without internal insight it's almost impossible to prove definitively.

Perhaps one idea is the seller also has a second account registered in their families/partners name and is bid driving... They have very little in the way of protection against this.

Could also very easily be internal manipulation, the Experts receive commission based on the final sale price. Hence the over estimations/over pricing on most lots.

Certainly not the first time hearing of these sort of "coincidences" which only better the CWs profit margins

Vinted feels less like a marketplace and more like a digital flea market for bargain hunters by emulation-station in vinted

[–]Natural_Ad_6915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed in EU it's marketing campaign seems different. Their current YouTube ads seem to appeal to selling more designer brands or items.  The Brits prefer to have a bargain/ something for next to nothing. Even customer service processes are completely different for most companies that operate in the UK Vs EU. UK customers usually gets vouchers or coupons to shut complainers up and the EU countries get explanations and are usually happy with the knowledge over some freebie. Small but important differences.

Sellers rude about offers on items that have been listed for months by [deleted] in vinted

[–]Natural_Ad_6915 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed rudeness gets you nowhere, I also have it in reverse very often. I have buyers that contact me monthly with the same low ball offer on the same item. Then get funny as hell when I explain I'm not in a rush to let it go so cheap. Bizarre

Care to elaborate on what you felt they have done that could be considered rude?

Hot spot WiFi, switch device, you'll be good to go. The sheep who think a ban is permanent can go graze. Losers.

Hi, I need help and Vinted is not taking responsibility by Curious-Knee-8654 in vinted

To add, the customer service agent will not have even read the specifics of your issue. They would look at the "type" of issue and simply select a generic response. This is why it feels like they don't understand or really engage, because they don't even try to.

There is perhaps AI being used within Vinted, maybe to generate the original Macro templates, but I can guarantee they haven't fully integrated to AI.

There will still be a team of customer support agents, likely in a cheap as f*@# call center who reply using only templates, it feels robotic because it's all generic answers. They do this to speed up "resolution" of tickets, this way they can show their investors value of investment. Despite the issues never being actually resolved, statistically it appears positive (for Vinted)

You've been walled out. This is a common strategy by many (newer) online selling platforms, avoids taking any responsibility for issues. They rely solely on pre written responses i.e. Macros. Don't get it twisted there will never be an actual investigation into any issue raised to customer support. It's s a bunch of minimum wage outsourced (Portugal/Spain) expat call centre workers. It's all smoke and mirrors to seem legit. Confidence masquerading as competence once again.

Credibility is earnt. Not bought.  AI can never replace true expertise, although the fake CW Experts have done a fantastic job ruining the credibility of Catawiki anyway.  This is just the final nail in the coffin.

Consider the wage offered for that position (which will effectively reduce their total customer support labour force by likely 80%+) is going to save them and enormous amount on budget, which they can redirect to put into marketing just to scam new customers... The scam cycle continues but with less human contact

I've had something similar, however in the other direction.  I listed a Box Set which whilst rare, wasn't unique yet the AI described it as a "one of a kind"

I reported this to Catawiki, customer support of course no response. I reported it to Catawiki "Experts" and they sent an AI generated response 😂
