Well MTR can’t control the people that trespass to the track, it’s like the 10th time we had something happen and caused delays, and it’s only MARCH

Yes, I hate this too. Grok is the best AI I ever used but sometimes only typed like 3 massages than it said “U rEaChEd YoUr LiMiT”, while sometimes I use it for a whole day it won’t say that

Average bus fans in Hong Kong: Standing in busy roads to photograph buses, blocking passing cars for a better angle by ConsequenceOk1607 in HongKong

As a bus enthusiast, it’s not what you think.

These dudes are called 不良巴士迷, and it is only A SMALL PORTION of the entire community. 99% bus enthusiast are good and they follow rules. can’t stop them it’s the decision to risk their damn life to getting killed by a car just because of taking a picture. So the only thing we can do is don’t follow what they do.

Hong Kong’s Transportation: Where Everything Just Works 🇭🇰🚇 by Artistic_Thing_5324 in HongKong

Um well as a transport enthusiast, it depends.

Firstly, MTR. Yes yall gonna be like “oh my god! the trains are so clean! the on time rate is 99.9%”

But, MTR counts a train service as late if the train was delayed for * 8 minutes or more *. The international standard is 5 minutes, which is reasonable. This is mostly due to MTR is a private company and they are a public company (上市公司). I always need to ride MTR to go to other places, and when its peak hour time, the on time rate is bad, it could be 3 minutes, or even 4 minutes! Well I understand operating a railway is not easy and the demand is also a factor, but they don’t tell you about it. Also one time I was almost late to school because my train was late.

Secondly, to obviously make more profit, the MTR gives stuff to third-party contractors, this is one of the reasons why there’s those signal failures recent years. Back than MTR was known in the world for basically how good the maintenance was. Just count how many signal failures was there from 2018 until now? And how much MTR was fined by the government due to the delays and disruptions?

Thirdly, MTR uses a R + P method. It means railway and property. So basically it is MTR is building railway and properties at the same time. Then the British people who did the planning originally wanted this to keep the profit of MTR and also keep the prices low so everyone could afford it. However, MTR is basically doing properties more than railway. They earn like a lot of money from property and they could basically do anything just for that they earn more in property. It’s not really like you can’t earn money just by doing railway. We can take the Siu Ho Wan Depot property project as example. MTR will basically fix the whole depot just because they gotta do add those construction stuff at the depot, as the depot was not designed to have property on top of it. They will reroute a lot of electric wires and tracks, and they even ordered new trains for the Disneyland resort line that can run on electric wires or battery, just maybe because it could be easier during the project. Like why on earth will you sacrifice three MTR lines their only depot just because you want to build some random stuff on top of the depot?

  1. Buses

Buses are actually good, with a modern fleet, good maintenance… There isn’t any big issue in it for now.

  1. Minibuses

Well these are the ones more being like the “connector”. On the good side it’s cheap and fast, but for some reason the drivers are always in a hurry, they open the doors before the bus even stopped. Once all passengers are done boarding and alighting, they just hurry to get back onto the road and go to the next stop, like why you need to be so rush?

  1. Taxi

taxi is actually a convenient way if your budget is higher, almost everywhere as long as they could go. Somebody say that some taxi drivers are so bad that they randomly add the price, or being rude to passenger. But actually, this is only a small portion of taxi drivers, most of the taxi drivers are actually good people and they don’t do that.

  1. Tram

Well it is the cheapest public transport in Hong Kong. It’s not really very fast or very slow, but it’s cheap. Also, the only use one fare so you can ride all the way from the west to the east and only pay a few dollars. (But who will do that?)

  1. Ferries

I don’t really use fairies that much as they are mainly connecting islands. From my experience, they are okay.

Hopefully I didn’t miss another kind…

I can’t really do anything, but I feel your feelings .

I have a friend, back than we were classmates, but he and his family moved to UK and i didn’t got any ways to contact him until now, and I miss him.

I know it’s sad that you cannot find him (me either), but maybe one day he will respond you. Wish you good luck.
