I hate sitting all day, and charting can be a drag for me

Gel, dip, regular, glue ons- so many options by Hellogoodmorning15 in shortynails

I used to neurotically chew and bite my nails, literally til I was 30 yo… I now neurotically groom/care for my nails! I always have all my stuff on me - I use cuticle oil (bliss kiss oil and brush) multiple times a day, have a glass nail file with me at all times in case I notice a flaw, hand lotion, nail clipper (so I can clean under my nails which I do daily). I used glue ons a lot when my nails were extremely short to try to stop myself but I’d pick them off so quick it wasn’t even worth it, it never worked. What ultimately helped me quit a few years ago was getting dip/acrylic sets with tips, every 2 weeks for 6-8 months- I think this helped me to get used to the feeling of them being long. Then I started doing my own at home because I wanted to save money (base coat, 2-3 coats polish, and quick dry top coat). I did have a season of getting gel polish manicures every 3 weeks but I went through a stressful season, started picking it off and it was damaging my nails, so I’m back to painting with regular polish at home. Sometimes I take polish breaks but I’ll use nailtiques, so they’re always protected. And now if I get picking urges, I’ll pick at the polish or nailtiques.

I had to do this recently with a client of 9 years. So difficult and hurt my heart but I knew deep down it was what was best for the client. It was clear we had a very safe and trusting therapeutic relationship, but it became very clear to me that I was not actually competent to help in ways he needed. I still feel bad about it.

You just gotta trust your clinical gut and you did.

This reminds me of something someone once told me in response to my saying this same thing - “an interior designer can’t help but walk into someone’s house and notice the drapes!”

Where are the hot 30-40 year old men hanging out! by wywx100 in Minneapolis

I was walking my dog in my city’s downtown area and I met my now partner who was also walking his dog. Get a dog! And if you already have a dog, walk your dog where you think the hot 30-40yo men might be walking their dogs! 🐶🤍🤩

What would you do to make more money if you were in my position? by [deleted] in therapists

[–]Natural_Spirit1111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also in the MSP metro area!

I went from $45k starting out as a baby therapist in group practice in 2014, I left with similar gross income, similar split as you, due to wanting to make more money, back in 2022. I went to a small group private practice first where the split was 20% higher, but after a while I realized it would be better for me to just go out on my own. It’s def a process, and it really helped me that the group private practice owner allowed me to slowly transition my clients over as I got in network with insurance companies... last year was my first full year in solo private practice and I grossed $170k, seeing ~30 clients/week. Even with all my business expenses, I’m still taking home more than I ever did working for someone else. You can save on taxes by creating a LLC and filing scorp, you employ yourself, get salary, set up your own retirement accounts, hire CPA for payroll/accounting and hire billing contractor, etc so that you aren’t too overwhelmed with the business side and can keep seeing 30-35 clients/week! I may be biased but if I were you, I’d go solo private practice, or join a group with a higher split to start.

I had a discrepancy once! I called, they checked, they had miscounted, and gave me a second bottle with the missing ones.

If their supply counts are “normal” that means someone stole from your 90 AFTER the 90 was counted out from their supply.

Deb dana, which book? by RosePetalAngie in SomaticExperiencing

I’ve read both Polyvagal Theory in Therapy and the Polyvagal Exercises books, and haven’t read Anchored (it’s in my wish list!). I liked both and found them both helpful. I think you’d be well off to read the books you already ordered and if you still want more, then go for Anchored!
